Outraged About Hailstorm

  considering i can still rape with hailstorm even at its cost...
  
  anyway the true thing about hailstorm was during the bug it'll stop taking mana after you fire your first hail. after that you are free to wait it out and let your charges build and whatnot without worry of mp cost. now it works so it'll continue to drain mp during the duration of the skill (like it supposed to be.)
  
  Don't be truely mad. Seriously with at least 75 int and r9 or beyond ice mastery rank F hailstorm and destroy alot...

  Hailstorm still can do more damages than Ice spear does for less mana usage too. 170 MPs is not too much as well, there's mana reduction as well.
  
  It'd be useful to do with shock and Haisltorm combo. Haha.

  What are the specifics on Hailstorm damage? Based on wiki info, it's an average of 4.5 seconds for a fully charged crystal to do 5 x 300 damage to 1 target. Ice Spear does 6.5 x 300 damage at full charges, takes 11 seconds with a +28% damage wand, and hits unlimited targets within it's attack area,
  
  Mana-wise, it's much better than Ice Spear in the long run, but I'd prefer upper level magic to be huge damage dealing AoEs, even if it meant extremely high mana cost or slow loading times.
  
  Also at above calculations, are the mana reduction upgrades on the trinity staff? Since you can't use Ice Wands for this spell.

  Ice type magic are never meant to be huge damage dealing, the real damage is from Fire-Type. Lightning is always something in between.

  That's true, it's a similar pattern with 1st and 2nd tier magic so it wouldn't be surprising to see a 3rd tier fire spell being a single hit mega inferno thing.

  Oh, I was calculating Ice Magic in general, but you're right, it doesn't affect HS. If I recall correctly from what Tatsigi told me, you can only artisan upgrade the staff.
  
  You have given me a new insight into this magic.
  
  a) Ice Spear deals 1950~2496 raw damage to a single target for a 11 second full charge (+"infinite" potential targets).
  
  b) Hailstorm deals 1500 damage to a single target for an approximate 10.5 seconds initial charge, then you can load up to 5 full crystals.
  
  *) This means Ice Spear would compete with Hailstorm in terms of damage from the fifth target, then it would become more efficient. This is of course assuming you're focusing on different targets.
  
  **) Now, the important thing is that Ice Spear consumes about 140 MP and Hailstorm 177. I could go with more deatail into the numbers but you can tell Ice Spear is potentially more efficient only when you want to damage different targets.

  Ice is supposed to be fast and deal low to moderate damage. If it should become OP'd, then the MP useage is good. Ice Spear uses a ton of AP and Mana (Unless you're an elf)
  
  I would still like some fire and lightning magic though. Fire Nuke anyone?

  It's just that I find pre-G13 magic tends to outshine skills of other classes like melee and alchemy (especially alchemy here...). I love having different ways to fight in parties but because of efficiency everyone insists on Fireballing at certain junctions. Not much to complain about since it is their mana but then it gets kind of boring. I cannot speak for G13 because I have yet to see it for myself.

  A bug is a bug, a non-intended feature and abuse of them is supposedly a bannable offense in any MMO. I too can see where they coming from, same thing happened with raft/ballon rewards. People get comfy abusing something that wasn't intended (before someone takes out the "guide" argument, that guide only applies to KR afaik) and when devs decide to fix there's QQ all over the floor.
  
  What I meant with my post is the Hypocrisy of some players complaining about glitches and bugs, then when they decide to start fixing them they complain, thus, why I don't get mabinogi players.
