Ego-able cylinders don't really make sense, if we look at it from the world of Erinn.
The world of Alchemy is very technical, with the whole loading crystals, trigger changes, blah.
Bows, arrows, swords, wands are all old-fashioned, as attacks are not predetermined, and rely completely on proficiency of the skill being used and stats
Following that general idea, spirit weapons grow in power alongside you, and also rely on their own stats, and some of yours (Like food and stuff)
A spirit cylinder just doesn't make sense. Most (Or maybe even all) of you are looking at this damage-wise and fairness.
You could all say this is biased, which is probably is, and continue to argue about golems and heat buster.
I for one, could care less whether or not cylinders can be imbued with a spirit. Just as long as Nexon can come up with a decent enough story to back it up.

Remember you feeding your ego?
Your spirit could be -spirit storage- for things that have yet to be transmuted, slowly releasing pieces of it at once.

Buff wand egos first.
Then we can start talking about cylinder egos.

IMO nothing in Mabinogi makes sense. Iria's not even supposed to exist, nor are G13's adventures with Shakespeare.
The world of Erinn can encompass anything really as long as there's a use for it.

I have the same reasons for why there shouldn't be Ego-cylinders: It doesn't fit with the original story of Ego Weapons. The idea of Ego-cylinders could be possible however with Vindictus, since Alchemy existed then as well.

Doesn't have to be the same story, though. It could have a new background story, like a new extreme level of compression within cylinders has even managed to fit a spirit within. That spirit can compress and store things for later use in attacks.

It's starting to sound like Shadow Of Spirit. owo Either way, I don't think I'd want to lug around a 2x3 item in my inventory. The item size is just so inconvenient.

Are we seriously discussing the plausibility of ego cylinders?
From a gameplay perspective, they should exist. DevCat advertises four classes in Mabinogi. Knight (melee), Wizard (magic), Archer (ranged attacks) and Alchemist (alchemy). The only job that lacks the ability to forge a pact with a spirit weapon is the Alchemist class.
It would have two perks;
1. Increasing the social level of a spirit cylinder improves the maximum range of similar-element Alchemy skills by 100 units every five social levels until +400 at 21 social.
2. The strength level (not the actual physical damage) of the spirit cylinder would have a positive effect on similar-element Alchemy skill status. The formulas used to determine the actual multipliers are,
Earth: Strength/2
Fire: Strength/1.5
Wind: Strength/1
Water: Strength/1.5
...heart
On an unrelated note...
Allow players to place elemental enchants on ammunition. There's no reason why someone wouldn't be able to enchant a quiver of bolts/arrows.

o.e...
ego cylinder.
So that means whenever we load water cannon, the ego will feel pleasure from it since we put the water crystal in its hole.
*gets a female ego cylinder*
Also devcat should illustrate how ego cylinder works just to make sense.

LOL heart.
I wonder if Life Drain would count as "Heart" element. xD
Also, I wonder why Alchemy skills don't have Dan tests...
I mean you can't argue that "But alchemy's damage is predetermined and everyone at the same rank and equips and title would do the same damage"...
Well, magic doesn't really fluctuate in damage (especially bolts) so their Dan tests come down to tactics, more than sheer stats.
Plus it'd be neat to see a dan3 alchemy PTJ that could give some neat enchants.

Im ALL alchemy.
I honeslty think if Alchemy cant get an Spirit Weapon, then no fighting style deserves one.
It doesnt mean that Ego Cylinders cant exist. Doesnt mean new stones cant be discovered or made.
Meh.
Alchemy deserves Ego Spirit Weapons. I dont care if you guys disagree. Its unfair for people to have big swords and bows, while Alchemy cant technically have a shiny mortar on their arm for their own.
=.=

Life drain counts as all alchemy elements (in concern with the G13 elements.)
I would get an earth or fire ego cylinder. Fire for shock + life drain.
