I've been thinking of getting 222 broads once I advance more of my range skills, and I want to start proffing an unused broad now. Does the store brought (13-30) and the smithed (14-32) make a big difference in damage?

the Dura does... and it helps a lot to have higher dura

Not only would it be 12 dur vs 19 dur, but broads that are smithed have around 3%-5% more crit (according to the wiki on r1 smithed broads). It may not seem like much, but every little bit helps when doing crit smashes.

So, the dura difference is a lot better in the long run, but the damage doesnt matter as much?

Not THAT much. Again, it's a difference of 7 dur, which can really matter, especially if the swords are enchanted and everything. Along with the crit, that'll make crit smashing sm mobs a lot easier if you have enough crit.

The smithed Broadswords (or any weapon, really) are usually in demand because of their much higher durability.
1 Durability = 1/2 of SCC Hard solo

Don't forget the extra balance which means you can use it sooner or with lesser dex with smithed Broads.

With the price of smithed broads these days, an average player would be better off using stock broads if you want to enchant say...spike on it. 1 spiked broad on average kills 8~10 normal broads...that's 1~2mil depending on the prices on your server, on broads alone, not to mention the stamp burns or the fact that you probably want a -pair- of broads instead of just 1.
If you want higher dura, I'd say go for the SM drop gladiuses, 17 is decent, and the drop rate is pretty good. But hey, we're talkin' broadswords here.

Well, I think I'll only need one broad, since I'm not that warrior-ish (rF smash). But I use melee enough because bolts alone is inefficient, and I hate pulling out wands because of the mana costs of adv. magic. I'm mostly magic oriented, and I use sword + shield instead of dual wield.

In that case, go for Warhammer if you got high dex.

Well, I thought about that, but sometimes I just need to dual wield (Like for pure windmill spamming). I was thinking of using my ego glad + broad, since I won't be dual wielding much, and most of my alts dual wield stock glads so I have a bunch of repairs.
