  Actually, according to the wiki (correct me if I'm wrong) once you have level 40 str and level 21 luck/34 will, you'll have the max of a Jousting Claymore with a Dustin Sword. THAT still requires a level 40 stat, but I imagine you can get that max with str in the 30s and luck, and some will. As far as my ego went, I used to have a Bipennis ego, but I killed it when I realized how crappy the damage would be compared too other egos. I still have YET to get another one, as whenever I'm 115% sure I want a Dustin ego, I start to backtrack and think about how good a Ring Bow ego is....*holds Mori responsible because I thought about a Ring Bow ego when I read your 2handed sword ego's are pointless post* D:

  Bow egos have lackluster crit, they are fairly useless for regular usage in hardmode missions and dungeons when compared to upgraded bows... If there's a PvE purpose to bow egos, it is to abuse their range and damage next to a campfire when you're absolutely certain that you cannot crit an enemy with any other bow at your disposal. Otherwise, they make the best Crash Shot and Elven Magic Missile weapons if that's all you plan to use.
  
  As far as rafting is concerned, a 2200 range ELB performs just as well as an ego and will not have you worrying about ego durability or repairs.

  I use Glorious Caliburn long bows or Glorious Caliburn carpentry sigged Elven Short bows, due to higher crit and that my ego is a Wing bow. Even at 67 max dmg on the ego my other bows are higher max and crit. NX repairs are also another factor why I don't use my ego in missions.I mainly only use for either when I'm lagging and there's a lot of aggro in a mission, or Peaca int, rafting and GB.

  It's not a combat ego, in any sense, but it can still hurt stuff.
  
  I just keep it handy for blessings and to feed it so that it can one day be an excellent Healing Wand.

  It's too easy to make normal weapons stronger than egos for less money (at least in terms of 2H weapons).
  
  The highest max currently possible on an enchanted/repairable/tradeable 2H weapon is 171. 163 is possible with much less effort and resources, and it still boasts stellar damage. It's much more time consuming and costly to feed an ego to beat those stats.
  
  I changed my Two-Hander to a DSKS with end-game in mind, but I don't see myself using it anytime soon. Both egos fall short to my normal weapons, and it doesn't help that I almost never starve them.

  They were: event items, and bought npc items (people need to learn how to feed correctly)

  Lucky~ I think my bow may have broken himself on the first go, but other than that he's fine. If he could be blessed, I might use him more often, but usually I just feed him random things I find, and if he's full, I'll leave him out when I afk. He's not that strong but his stats are all above 18/19.

  This is actually the case of what happens to anyone who repairs the normal way, it's inevitable. Repair without pots, your ego one day will end up being low dura.
