Marketplace Prices not displaying correctly?

  I tend to use the default price as the price when I sell something on the Marketplace, and I assumed it was either the lowest price among the items offered, or an average of the prices.
  
  But when I checked the prices by searching in the Marketplace, I've found that often the prices don't tally. Usually, the Marketplace price (not the autodisplay one in your Inventory) is much lower.
  
  Anyone know why this is the case? I don't know how the autodisplay one works, (as in, how it calculates the value of your items) but I do know that it's often wrong...

  the "recommended price" is calculated by the server by using the listed (not necessarily sold) prices of the previous day for that particular item.

  Don't use the function then.
  
  It's hardly accurate when new content is released and the prices change every 15 minutes, but it's rather dependable otherwise.
  
  Either way, I don't use it. I prefer to see all the listed prices.

  I believe the market price tooltip updates like once a day, so it's not really all that dependable. It might give you an idea as to whether or not you want to sell it on the marketplace, rather than NPC it, but you should always search the item you are planning to sell on the marketplace first.
