Yea, it's in Korean. Nothing like playing a game in a language you have no understanding of. (I have enough knowledge in Japanese to get a general gist of what's going on, and enough of Mandarin to know that I can understand the occasional that's being displayed/said, no knowledge of Korean.)

Learn hangul, it takes a night to learn if you try really hard and you'll be able to understand every english cognate in the Korean language. :3 And in video games a lot of cognates are used.

I doubt it will be hard for me, since I have a natural knack for foreign languages, but I'm too cheap/lazy to learn it. I at least want some money to get a decent program or class to teach me. D:

I'm sure it'll be linear, gameplay wise. I'm just going to play to get a feel of the controls and so on.
I'm really surprised how they actually kept to making it and didn't drop the game.

It was announced in like... 06'?
Haven't heard any more about it since a few days ago. It does actually look fun. Now we just have to hope it isn't a grindfest like the original.

Too bad this is pointless.
They run maplestory on a cell phone now, so no one is going to play this.
People who are mad about maplestory will.
Unless the cell phone has the same story.

There's still grinding but it's not as crazy as the original.
It's faster paced, and monsters don't respawn unless you get out of the map and re-enter.
Healing of hp and mp while standing is also much faster than original.
See, the original didn't have much of a storyline, and to get to many places you have to be level so and so...
Within 1 hour I'm brought from perion to henesys outskirts, then to lubridium tower and then to eerie cave before balrog appearance, this being part of the storyline...
What's going to happen next is really unpredictable...and I really enjoy that.
Also, they did a good job at this game. It feels like the old (you still have to hack/slash a lot), but it also feels really suited for DS play with the little changes that they made. Like map and gps system at the bottom screen, L for special attacks and R for defending.
This is exactly what ports of games from other platforms should be like.
They did a good job with the hints section, where they provided visuals as tutorial guides.
This game goes on my recommendation list now.
I heard an English translation is on-going at gbatemp..hopefully they will translate the story too.
The only one thing that's sad is that there is no multiplayer or online mode. That would really be fun.

Translation would be nice, since I hate not knowing what was going on. D:
But it's definitely better than the original game in terms of grinding. I'm like level 15 after an hour and a half of gameplay, and I never had to do any real grinding, just leveling as I go along (which is saying alot, since I tend to be a over leveler in console RPGs). Of the couple of bosses I faced, there wasn't any real challenge, but then again, I'm only in like chapter 3, so I shouldn't have faced any bosses that could have posed a threat. The last boss I faced was an Iron Hog, and that wasn't any problem, considering that even though I started out as the Warrior, I haven't landed a miss yet.
Plus this game is a lot easier than the original, but at the same time, annoying, since the game adds your stats for you, so you can't have your Dexless Sin or Luckless Magician. And it also adds points to your class's useless stats. My Warrior is level 15, and I have 10 points in both Int and Luck, which (since I can't read Korean, so I don't know if those stats affects the damage my skills do or not) at first glance is useless.
There's also no skill builds, you have to find or buy skill books during the game before you can use them. This is both nice, and sad at the same time. Sure, I don't have to worry about starting the game over because I misplaced a skill point in an useless skill, but that also means that my skills are also entirely based on my stats, since as far as I know, you can't increase the skill level.
But overall, I'd recommend it if you were a fan of MapleStory at anytime in your life. If the fact that it's still only in Korean turns you away, then get the patch that at least gives you English menus, so that you know what does what, and not doing a pure blind run of the game like I did without knowing about the patch.

It's mostly about each of them having a part of crystal that corrupts people or so.
I do miss at those flying ghosts with horns (forgot the name) at level 20+....the only way to kill those are through the use of skills.
I think the pre-made stats are a good thing. Not being able to screw up your builds allow you to have fun with the more important parts. Most monsters are easy so after a while it doesn't really matter how much stats you have.

Yep, I ran into those Jr. Boogies as well, but at the time I wrote that, I hadn't seen one, so I was able to land a hit on every enemy. But those Jr. Boogies suck. They alway fly just out of reach from most of my skills, and so only my Shout attack does anything, and at level 22, can only use it like two times before I have to wait to use it again. D:
But anyways, due to my lack of knowledge in Korean, I'm now stuck. I'm in Chapter 5 and just met Maya (the girl that's always sick in Henesys). I think I have to go find some medicine for her, but I talked to all the NPCs that I can think of, but they aren't really helping. I think I'm also on a side quest where I have to examine some Totem Poles (not sure what I have to do, since I can't read Korean), so I'm stuck there as well. Who knows, considering how linear the game has been so far, these two quests might be connected.

You're right. It's totem poles, you have to infiltrate the exploration camp 2 maps to right of perion and then receive 3 jewels from exploration team to place on totem poles. Afterward you have to go to the secret place uncovered by thief and his friend much earlier on and then find a totem pole without a head.
The infiltration was pretty fun.
