I wondering if Golem should be raised to r1. Is the efficiecy really good?

Decent if R1 golem and R9+ alchemy mastery.
Excellent if R1 golem and R2-R1 alchemy mastery.
For me I think the minimum for golem should be R5, since it allows you to use snow golems.
You'll still want it at R1 because of the ability to make snow golem crystals.

Why WOULDN'T you get it to 1?

Some people have AP constraints.
In which case Rank 9 and Rank 5 are good caps. But no excuses for not ranking Alchemy Mastery to 1.

Efficacy or efficiency? Different things, you know...
Every rank of Golem is efficacious, while an efficient point, as Yogurt said, would be r1 golem with r1 AM. IMO, you should raise AM Mastery first, or along with Golem so you get the maximum benefits (being efficient).

At rank 1 golem and rank 2 alchemy mastery for me, even forest golems are good in hardmode shadow missions. So yes, you should rank them.

Ok here is a better question. Would i be better off soloing Lingering Darkness with Thunder (failing sometimes) in 23-25 minuets. Or soloing Shadow Wizard Adv/Shadow Warrior Adv, or Cuilin Adv? With r1 golems

I'm waiting till G13 and job change comes out, so I can rank is easily due to the materials for Alchemy Mastery and Golem will be slashed by half.

With r1 golems and high ranked alchemy mastery you will be able to solo pretty much anything far beyond your level in a timely manner.
I have a friend who's been able to do just that for any dungeon in the game besides Peaca (which she just never cared to try) and all the shadow missions she can access ever since she turned level ~300, with just r1 golem and r2 alchemy.

Golem. You don't need MP pots or a wand for that, and if it dies, you just summon a new one.

Golem's main selling point is its huge windmill radius. In most rath castle rooms, a well placed golem windmilling in the center is enough to hit everything. With r1 AM, r1 golem summoning, and clay cylinder, a forest golem is able to windmill well over 1 k damage crit, 500-700 dmg normal. Almost every int monster dies in 1 normal wm, almost every adv monster dies with 1 crit wm or 2 normal wms.
Although you need a steady supply of golem crystals, think about it this way; each golem can last 6 minutes. That's 6 minutes of potential hp, stam potions, and weapon durability saved, as well as any potential deaths. The cost of a stone golem is only like 1 k, forest golem 2-5 k. It's a small price to pay 6 minutes of golem rampage.
In hardmode missions, snow and sulfur golems are a life saver, the 205 ap put into golem summoning and 120ish ap for alchemy mastery are totally worth it. R1 golem summoning is a lot CHEAPER and more versatile than any ap intensive adv magic skill used in my opinion.
In short: R1 golem+R1 alchemy mastery = r1 windmill with much bigger range without pot usage or high risk of death
Ideal golem build:
R1 golem
R1 Alchemy Mastery
R1 Clay Alchemy Mastery when it comes out
R1 Counter
R1 Barrier Spikes
R6 Mana Shield
In harder missions and dungeons, put up a barrier spike and counter (possibly mana shield) and golem away!

Don't rank it. Golem is not that useful. It makes you less manly when you fight with it.

Peaca IS soloable with Snow/Magic Golem and r1 AM r1 Golem. You just need to be careful about it and Water Cannon the Wights.
