Research shows that out of the eight million pet cats in the UK, one in four are now obese.
If this trend continues, 50% of cats will be too fat to fit through a standard cat flap by 2020.
But if you don’t fancy putting your precious puss on a diet, never fear.
Instead of losing weight, you can now just get a bigger cat flap instead.
More Than pet insurance and TV vet Joe Inglis have teamed up to launch ‘Cat Flap of the Future,’ an extra large cat flap with sliding doors operated by a paw recognition system.
At 32cm by 35cm, the fat feline’s futuristic dream is twice the width of a regular cat flap.
And if you’re wondering how your overweight moggy will make it to the cat flap, you don’t need to worry on that front either.
The new invention also includes a cat conveyer belt to carry your feline friend from ground to flap level.

My cats aren't that fat.
Then again, they never venture outside either.

Shouldn't we worry more about making sure they DONT get fat?
And I would never make a flap to exit the house. Cats shouldn't leave the house without supervision. They have a tendency to get distracted, lost, or road killed.

Well, I have cats that live outside.
Then again, they've lived here their entire lives and they rarely venture far from my house.
