Levelling a new pet?

  So even though I'm pissed that your stats get transferred to the White Tiger mount while riding it, I decided today I'll buy my White Tiger since it's still beautiful and I was looking forward to it and had a reserved name for it etc.
  
  So anyway. I'm gonna try and level it as high as I can while it's age 2 & 3 for maximum STR gain.
  
  I've never really put effort into levelling a pet before, so how do you do it?
  
  I see people levelling their pets at mongooses.. but where do you start a pet at level 1 and when can I start killing black tailed mongooses? :what: I want to level it up quickly, quickly as I can anyway.
  
  And can you use 2x exp potions on a pet? :lol:

  No on the 2x exp pots, but if you're strong you can use a 2x exp pot and kill the black and white desert bears in connous for massive exp, and leave your tiger out.

  Why are ya pissed? Training the Tiger for the Rank 5 skills is still a pretty good idea, since you use the Tiger's skills while mounted on it.
  
  What I did with my Tiger (Level 29 atm) is that I ran Rundal Normal HM with it ouside a bunch of times. It's even better with the 2x Exp. Potion (and Double Rainbow). The monsters there give a heckload of experience and the dungeon doesn't take too long to clear.
  
  I feel like Black-Tailed Mongooses get rather slow after a certain level.

  I just use my my tiger as my mount as I run Their Method. It gets epic lvls while I get epic exp.

  When you summon a pet, the experience it gains is a fixed percentage of yours (white tiger mount is 150%). So if you use a x2 exp pot on yourself, your tiger will get 150% of that too.

  Elven Archer? While wielding a ranged weapon, barehand damage is calculated for melee attacks IF your maximum damage exceeds the tiger's own maximum damage. Otherwise, your melee attacks atop the Snow Tiger will utilize the tiger's own damage range and critical values.

  Do you mean tiger gets 50%, and if I use an EXP pot he'll just get normal exp per kill as if he was killing solo?

  Wait if the tiger calculates your str (if its higher) wouldn't it just be better to train it for HP and not Str?

  Unless you want a strong pet, then you train it for STR.
  
  If you're just gonna mount it, just train it for the skill ranks.

  I do Ciar adv. Although the pass is harder to get, the monsters are far more easier to kill, and gives more exp overall (in terms of exp vs time)

  1. The pet discussion board is empty because people haven't been posting their "Leveling a new pet?" threads in it.
  2. The x2 EXP status will double your pets experience gain while fighting alongside you. I'm not sure how much exp they gain but it's pretty low compared to actually playing as the pet.
  3. I've had the most success at the black-tailed mongeese.

  I too share a love for Their Method. I went old school and ice countered black mongooses till lvl 25. That was fun and nostalgic.
