commits a crime and gets sentenced to jail/prison, what happens to the baby when she finally gives birth?
Let's say she has no other person who wants to take care of the baby. Is it put up for adoption?

It's given to children's services, and what happens to it from there depends. Foster care, adoption, orphanage, etc.

If she gets out, do they give back the baby to her? Or child.

Not sure... I guess it's possible, but I think it'd matter on how long she was serving/what it was for. Like, if it was for child abuse or domestic violence, probably not.

That scenario is possible but it's also possible for her to keep the baby in prison. There's a show on TLC called something like, I'm pregnant and... It's show that follows pregnant women that have out of the ordinary issues. There was in fact one where the mother was in prison. I didn't see the whole thing but she had her mother who was watching her other child. The grandmother wanted her daughter(prisoner) to give the baby to her when he was born. The mother on the other hand wanted to keep the baby in the prison. They have a child care center in the jail for inmates. I assume it depends on the security rank of the prison. Again, I didn't watch the whole thing.

I'm pretty sure the child is placed under child care service.
Whether or not the woman gets the child depends on if she can take care of the child and raise the child according to society (like not doing the reason the mother got into jail in the first place).

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's child care stuff.
I doubt that they would be allowed to keep the baby in a prison, in the majority (if not close to all) of cases.
It's not a healthy place for a kid to grow up.

I looked it up and apparently it's a growing trend. More and more women's prisons are getting nurseries. They say it helps with repeat offenders. There are some requirements for the mothers though.

Huh, well that's interesting... The most their sentence can be at the time they give birth is 18 months remaining, so that's not so bad... it's not like they're raising the child its entire life in there.
I dunno exactly how good of a role model someone in prison would be, but if it wasn't really anything serious and you just kinda got shat on by the system, it'd be nice to not have your baby taken away.
