  For reference, the highest possible legitimate damage in the game currently is R1 Giant Full Swing (using dual blunts and assuming a max damage stat of 200) with R1 Critical Hit, 100% Fire-elemental against a 0 Def/Prot 100% Ice-elemental enemy. Assuming a maximum damage critical hit, the damage will be 26,000 (if I'm remembering that ancient calculation correctly).
  
  R1 Fireball is only second place, with a legitimate damage cap of just over 15,000.

  You mean 2Handed Blunts (Ego Broad Axe with a max attack of 208 with all stats at level 40 specifically), right? If you use dual blunts, then you'll only do a forward AOE attack of equal strength to a normal attack. I may not be R1 yet, but that's what happens to me when I forget to switch to my Battlehammer before loading the skill.

  I think we're only counting real damage applied to real opponents. Otherwise it's easy to break 10k damage by taking advantage of elementals.

  4-5k crit smashes on hardmode shadow mobs (I really don't fight anything else nowadays). I'll post a screenie of it once I can get back on Mabi.
