Honestly? This really scares me more than anything out there. You can't see it coming, you just suddenly start coughing and a few hours later you end up dead. Oh and the scarier part? It's very possible. Take for example Anthrax, someone with a grudge against a certain country modifies some Anthrax and releases it inside a public place. Everyone there would most likely die and people would not know what happened for awhile giving the perpetrator time to release more spores.

Scary indeed.

An entire city gets wiped out within a day if its unleashed.

If four was demolished by that virus then why aren't their theoretically zombies all around us? I don't have the book on hand right now but I recall there being outbreaks in the civil war and in Africa in the previous outbreaks section. Africa and North America are not zombified.

Because the virus actually doesn't exist.

The idea is that there could've been such a virus.

But the chance of them not eating each other alive is highly unlikely anyways. Plus the problem behind zombie apocalypses are that it doesn't happen all over the world simultaneously... it has a starting point. Because of this awareness usually gets out, and despite zombies having superarmor, people can usually win over zombies in a fight as long as weapon and logic is applied.
