I just bought a fixed dye and attempted to dye the armour but it didn't come up as a item to dye. I'm trying to dye the middle clothing like part so I know I don't need a metal dye because its not the armour part. The wiki says the part is leather so a fixed should have worked.
What do I do?:T_T:

I think the wiki trolled you. Try metal dye.

No, it's not a troll.
I don't think there's any armor that you can dye with fixed dye, but that may not be the case for all-cloth dye; so, I'll just word it this way:
If the armor has metal on it, you can't use fixed dye on it, even if the part you're trying to dye is cloth.

But its not the actual armour part its the clothing type bit I'm trying to dye so I don't see why I would need a metal dye

Read my post. >w<
I don't get the logic behind it, since it still is cloth, but that's how they made it. x.x

So I just bought a fixed dye which wont work and now I need to find a metal one:fail2:
Well I guess I hold onto the fixed dye for when I try to dye something else and start hunting for a metal dye

A metal one, which has no fixed version. I guess save your fixed for the future if you really like that color, or sell it.

Yeah equips are either classified as metal or cloth regardless of the actual material you see. For example, swordsmanship uniform has "metal" pads but it's still considered cloth.

Yay for the price difference >>
Fixed I bought - 50k, cheapest metal dye on housing - 200k
I think I'll leave it the colour it is

You need three dyes to fully dye that outfit. There are two leather pieces which are dyed using normal dyes (not fixed dyes) in addition to the metal pieces which are dyed using metal dye.
