Just wanting to hear some more opinions on this. Do you think hearing the "clink" when trying to Heavy Stander Cancel is a big deal?
A friend told me that for large shields, the clink adds some extra time, but I've heard others say it doesn't make any difference, and even though having a clink means you're a bit slower, one shouldn't worry because it's negligible.
What do you guys think?
(Btw, ignore the first 6 replies. They were directed to a previous topic. I edited this one b/c I felt the questions were very similar, and the first one had been answered already.)

^ The point is to use it for when you DON'T see something coming.
Not necessary on all bosses though.
Don't use it if you know the boss CAN'T hit you no matter what.
[Edit: But it's good form to just use it anyway. You'll build your reflexes better by using it constantly rather than using it only sometimes.]

So even the blossom blow cancel is significant? I was under the impression that it did very little, and it's the only smash I'm having difficulty cancelling :( [I roll too much]

It's not about saving time.
It's about being able to squeeze an attack in within that tiny window of time before he WTFSIDESWIPE? Oh...That's okay. I heavy canceled and took no damage. LOOL!

Wait what kind of heavy cancel? I'm not talking about holding heavy, I'm talking about the times where you think you can get two blossom blows in before he attack again. In this case, you immeadiately let go of stander, but I'm wondering if doing that's necessary for blossom blow.

On later bosses HS cancel is the only thing that'll let you GTFO before the boss 1hits you while you're still in the attack animation.

There's a table showing how much time you save by doing HSGC in my guide.
I got used to doing it almost 90% of the time, but it's only really necessary against bosses, and yeah, it's best if you do it with every combo (except a full ivy sweep) for best outcome.

Drink Stamina potion.
Heavy Stander with large shield in a corner.
Fill up SP bar like mad.
Shield Rush.
Repeat.

Clink does not matter. The animation for leaving Heavy Stander is still the same.
Large shields aren't slower at all, at any point. If anything, it feels even more satisfying using Heavy Stander Cancel with a large shield.

Actually it depends on what you do right after the heavy stander cancel.
Heavy Stander has 2 sounds, the click, and the clank. With the click, there's no difference between the shields no matter what you are planning to do afterwards. The difference comes with the clank. When you hear the clank and you let go to begin your next attack sequence, there is no difference between the two shields, but if you are trying to move again, the heavy shield actually takes a bit longer to stand back up before you can begin moving again, though even that is somewhat moot since sprinting automatically cancels that animation as well.
