This is going to be a short little guide on getting what you want when selling things. Some of you may think these things are common sense, but not everyone knows how things go, and they end up losing money.
Getting an accurate price.
Merchanting is a big aspect of Mabinogi, and chances are you either already have or are going to sell something. A lot of people have no idea how low or high to price their items, and it may make selling items difficult. Here are some tips on finding the price of your item:
-Check the housing board-
As inaccurate as it may be sometimes, the housing board usually give players an idea of how much different items go for. It's usually safe to price your item at or a bit lower than the lowest price listed on the housing board for your item. If your item isn't on the housing board, don't worry. There are other ways you can find out the price range for your item.
-Ask for a price check-
This can be done in more than one way. You can ask a close friend or a guild member. You can put up a party sign saying something like, "PC>[your item here] Note Me.", or you can even ask here on Mabination. It's best to ask more than one source so that you get the most accurate price range.
-Look at other party signs/personal shops-
Your item may be being sold by someone else. Check around shops on every channel and read the party signs to see if and at what other people are selling the item at.
Avoiding the rip-off.
Knowing the price of your item doesn't necessarily mean that you can't sill get ripped off. The following tips will keep that from happening:
-Know what you want for your item-
Having a certain amount of money that you want for your item in your mind will help you say no to those offers that don't quite meet it.
-Know whether or not you'll accept trades-
Some people love getting other items for their items. Some people don't. If you're willing to take a trade for your item, try putting "S/T>[your item here]" or "T>[your item here]" in your party sign. If you aren't willing to trade, try putting "S>[your item here] money only" or "S>[your item here] $$" in your party sign. That way, people have an easier time offering you.
-Don't give in to beggars-
A lot of buyers think they can get what they want by begging for something, or bothering you over and over. If they don't meet the price you want, and they won't leave you alone about it, don't give in to them! Simply ignore them or block them, and they will eventually give up.
Other tips.
-Allow buyers to add you-
Sure, notes are a great thing, but you should always give buyers the option to add you. Putting a simple "add/note" at the end of your party sign tells them that they're not a bother to you by adding you. By adding you, buyers can reach you faster, and you can have a nicer and more organized conversation with them.
-Accept offers-
If you're still not sure how to price your item, take offers. Putting "NMO", "NM", "Note offers", or anything like that in your party sign lets buyers know that they can offer you a price.

That's all I'm going to do for now, but I'll probably return to this to do the buying part of it, too.
