If everyone remembers the price jump gold ores had, this is a thread to talk about similar items. Everyone who bought gold ores before boat four made at least 100k off of each. I met a few people who couldn't otherwise make money that had six million gold because they listened to advice. Other people stocked on leather only to see the price plummet.
The items I'm thinking about. I have very little info about them though. I'd be very happy if you guys helped me out on these.
Ice Jelly:
http://vindictusdb.com/item?i=Ice+Jelly
A lot of it is used to make two twin swords and a cloth boot. The better sword takes sixteen ice jellies. Right now it's useless just like gold once was and only obtainable through fishing. Right now they're selling for as high as 7.4k on the marketplace. My only question is whether ice jellies will be in boat 5 and will they drop enough ice jelly that will make it worthless withing the first few days.
Ice Spirit Remnants:
http://vindictusdb.com/item?i=Ice+Spirit+Remnant
A whopping 25 are needed to make Frost Peak Hard Boots (heavy). I don't see these rising in price though, they're still too common and worthless.
Ice Crystals:
http://vindictusdb.com/item?i=Ice+Crystal
Ivory Scythe, Sword, Spear take 16. Ivory Staff, Hammer take 20. Many people are already investing in it. These level 54 weapons are unlocked with the completion of Irkul raid dungeon. Many people say that ice crystals will be much more common from boat 5. If Irkul isn't immediately released with boat 5 (similar to White Tyrant and Laghodessa) then the ice crystal prices would end up dropping until the raid came out. I still doubt that the level cap would go up by 10 when the last update only raised it by 6.
Iron Ore:
http://vindictusdb.com/item?i=Superior+Iron+Ore
Superior Iron Ore is going to be used in 39 future weapon/armors. After that we can imagine that Epic Iron ore will also be heavily used. Right now it isn't used that much since all the high equipment need gold. The method to obtain iron isn't going to change and most people are only doing it right now to score gold ore. Apparently KR prices are at 500 gold per iron but you have to take inflation into account. This seems like the safest investment to me, albeit it will use up a lot of inventory space.

You can basically spam Gwyen's Request for 25 Ice Spirit Remnants, not really anything worthy to invest in.
For the superior iron ore, I would invest in acidic poison pouch instead and mine as many irons as you need. You could also sell off all the gold ores you get since they are worth quite a lot right now.
Edit: Didn't read the first part before, you can sell mats you bought off the marketplace? I thought that automatically makes it bound to your character.

They are automatically bound but you can craft them into equipment and resell for about the same price.

I recall someone saying that the Ice Jelly drop rate was increased later on in Mabinogi Heroes, so if we are updated straight to the updated Ice Jelly Drop rate, then they probably won't be worth much. If we start out with the terrible drop rates, then it's something to invest in.

Well, you are awfully nice.
You're losing quite a lot of money though by doing this, though. I suppose it's up to you...
And wow, I hope Ice Crystals are more common in Boat 5. I've been stockpiling them too actually, among other things on my secret list of items to stockpile. But that's a secret. ^^

Not really as a huge amount of people already know this. Adding even 50 people wouldn't make a big difference.

I don't think THAT many people invest items ahead of time. Gold ores were still sitting at 30-40k like 3 days from the patch.

Iron ores aren't problematic.
I mean, they're so ridiculously easy to get, unlike cloth and leather.

A ton of people did :o
Ice jellies were 2k, now they're just rising like hell. Everyone pretty much knows. This thread is probably more for preventing people from making a bad decision.

As more people max out, prices would start dropping.
If you're just playing casually, you can probably just wait two weeks or so and buy everything at dirt cheap prices.

That's the inherit problem with this game's economy. Take Green Shells for example, they started at 40k+ a piece for all of a day, dropped like a rock to 14k for a few more days and now are down to around 7k. As long as people can spam runs to get anything in the game, the market will always suffer from constant deflation. The upside is this only really affects dying armor, as that's the biggest goldsink in the game right now, and is quite thankfully optional.

I can't wait for Ice Crystals to deflate so I can get rid of that god-forsaken Fergus quest -_-

It's not gonna deflate anytime soon. Probably gonna inflate actually. You might wanna get it over with lol

I can't. I don't even have enough gold to buy what I need at the current price. :gloom:
