I made my house out of wood planks, and I made a "fireplace" out of cobblestone. I didn't know the fire would leap out of the fireplace and burn my walls down. Luckily, I've got water on top of my house, so it put most of the fire out. I only had to rebuild one wall. :)

I laughed after, house out of wood plans, and I made a fireplace.
Sorry.
But yeah, I hate using wood, I only use cobblestone, cause like, wood is useful.

But I didn't know the fire would jump to my wall. :<
I would've used cobblestone for the walls, but I think it's ugly. :/ I used it for the floor.

If you don't like cobblestone smelt it and it will become smoothstone.

Helpful Tip: Hitting the floor/wall where the fire is will put it out. I learned that pouring water makes a mess if you fail.

I have a Minecraft Server, and the Paid Version of the game.
My server requires a quick downgrade to 1.1, though.
PM if anyone wants to play.

If you mean to explain further here it is: say a wooden block is burning. Hitting where the fire is on the block will extinguish it. If you do this when a fire first breaks out it won't grow out of control. Or you could always slam some dirt/stone on top and isolate the fire.

I'd feel like my house is an ugly fortress then. :< It's already just a giant block with windows, even though it's made out of planks. XD
I'm eventually going to make it cool though...I think. But I've started smelting the cobblestone anyway. I'm building my reserves.
