They are gathering small bits of gold to give to their botting masters. The gold the bots are selling has to come from somewhere, after all.
Thought it came from ores and the like.

All the killing and metallurgy bots are just being run by a program. Watch the bots and you can notice that they aren't being run by an actual person. A few of the spammers on the other hand, are actual people just spamming away.

I actually am glad there are bots. They help noobs get gold by leaving their large meats behind, and they supply people who are willing to pay with gold. I have never used one, since I am too scared of being scammed and losing my account, but I think it's a good idea, in theory. Certainly better than buying ****ty gachas. lol

It's more fun when some people admit to buying gold.
"Listen, it's just gold, it's not like I am cheating levels or glitching for infinite experience points. I can just buy equipment and potions, that's all. Not like I can be level 1000 in 2 days, unlike those glitchers."
*looks at the two fully upgraded Goddess Caliburn War Swords, the social 24 muramasa ego, the wooden needle gear, the lorica, earthquake accessory, raven boots... all stacked nicely onto a character with 700 total*
"Yea, gold can only really buy equipment and supplies..."
Sounds like a advanced version of my equipment set up.. Lol maybe that's why people thought I bought gold.

I always felt that they were promoting a scam and just black listed it. I don't even understand how the buyer is sure they will get the gold. I mean buying nx in game is a risk. So buying gold seems to be a suicide for your money.

I don't even understand what the bots are saying most of the time. They could probably draw more customers if they typed the information in English and not moon speak.

they're just adding random characters inbetween letters to avoid the censoring

Honestly, I dont pay attention to the bots at all. Sometimes when I need some quick pet food, the spam bots in Qila help alot.Well.....atleast they do the work of getting the food for me ._. Bots also cause lag,and whenever theres one in Dunby, I just blacklist it. I thought buying gold was illegal anyway.Isn't it?

A lot of stuff is illegal but Nexon can't ban the people who buy gold. Even if someone trades with a gold bot it's just a trade. There are always people blatantly advertising that they are buying NX or telling everyone how they bought from a bot but they are never banned.

Why don't the spam bots try to be less annoying? Like not making this giant wall of word bubble or ruining conversations with their text? Why not just let the bubble fall and then put the advert back up? Seems people would hate them less.

Spam bots are bots. They don't care if the people that aren't buying hate them or not.

How would you lose your account? Most people use sites that have been around since the beggining of mmo's. I suppose people would have been nervous in the very beggining, but now that they've been around so long it's kind of obvious that the aren't going to scam you.
Also, they spam because new players might see it before they realize it's a bot. After that, that person tells how fast they got their gold, and players practically advertise to the people who ignored the bots in the first place.

People buy gold?
I don't see why.
Gold is pretty easy to come by, truthfully, and being the unadvanced player I am, I have little need for it.
