  Weaving is 10x harder than Refine, and it's still very easy in comparison to other skills he'd have to rank eventually... which is why it's good for everyone to grind through Refine in its entirety, it and windmill grind are only basic preparation for the much worse things that are to come.

  you do realize ores are like super duper cheap, I can buy a stack of ores anywhere from 700g-1.5k each.

  It'll be fine, as long as you set realistic limitations and goals.
  
  For one, Weaving won't seem that bad if you spend a little bit everyday on it. Like an hour or less. You can probably get through a hard rank in a month, less for easier ranks, by doing a bit everyday.
  
  It's only hard and daunting if you don't have a schedule and have little control on what are your priorities.
