WIP - Espeon Girl

After starting like 300 drawings, I decided to base one off my favourite pokemon :I

ESPEON.

I spent all day working on the vector for this one, and I'm hammering out the last bit before I colour. Which'll probably be maybe Tuesday.

(I tried tinypic and it didn't make it miniscule like photobucket does)

She's going to be holding a psybeam or a glowy orb of some sort. There's no lineart for that so it's just her hand right now.

Anyways, just wondering.. what program did you use to draw that? and how did you make the lines thick and thin in some parts of the drawing? (Wanting to know that for a long time now)

I use Painttool SAI. There's this thing called a vector layer, and it's basically a click drag and drop line tool. You can set the thickness later with "Pressure". You can also change the colour of the lines at anytime and all that. It's really convenient, although for me, it takes longer than doing regular lineart.

Some people zoom in really far and do the smoothing that way, but it always ends up looking choppy for me, so I do this, and add bits where the pressure tool doesn't do it justice.

Also you can't use the wand tool on the vector layer so I usually just copy it onto a normal layer so I can use the wand. I don't like layer clipping.
