Offspring, what do you do in a typical day, anyways? o,o?
I used to think so too, till I found an easier way to collect herbs. Leaving me with an unlimited supply to totally fail with my 50% success rate~ :D!
My typical day after getting to 60/15
Log on
Greet my fellow guildmates
Ask if anyone needs help with finding pages or what not
Help my specific guild member (I drafted a total level 36 because he seemed really bright as to learning the game so I kinda took him under my wing)
Poke fun at Ryu-Cow
See if any of my friends need help with anything
-Find Lizard enchant
-Page Hunting
-Etc
Work on my own stuff if I get bored
Today alone I helped get an Ice Spear page 2. Proffed up a weapon. Met with a guildmate who recently came back from boot camp to talk about new content and stuff. Finished G1 with my underling. Help train crystallization 3 ranks. The only self thing I did today was make a scarecrow set and I don't even need it.

Provide a service to fill in the extra time will pming? :D? AKA Lifeskills, they tedious, but do fill up time and in the end you feel accomplished. :thumb:
I know when I do lifeskills, they go way faster if I talk to others. XD

My apologies for getting off topic, but did you just call me an ass? Can you not take an un-sugarcoated opinion backed up with your own hypocrisy as proof?

Quote from Aiyoku;277199:
The combat system IS complex. You have four different types of offense. Use them in combination for complexity. I didn't say you used it for your generations, I said I didn't use them for mine as an example. All your talk of theories and calculations comes FROM THE WIKI. It's your fault if you planned out the next two years of your Mabi life while looking at the wiki.
Someone half your level can be as strong as you because rather than doing NOTHING and pissing and moaning about how the integrity of the game is now failing, they've been doing stuff. You honestly can't bring that up when you said yourself you use the wiki to look at equipment and such. They did the exact same thing except better than you, hence why they're as good as you at half your level.
I also feel the need to point out that nerfing things makes the game harder, not easier. Just clearing that up. You do what a dumbed down game. You're complaining about things because you can't keep up.
And you're right, I'm not sorry. You're crying for attention so why should I be sorry for being harsh? I've played this game since beta ended and guess what I'm not tired or sick of it. I have nothing to complain about beyond the maintenance extensions. My opinion as I've stated several times is that you should quit, and this just furthers what I'm saying. If all you can do is complain then leave. If that's hard to do then you need to rearrange the priorities in your life because you're making Mabinogi out to be the most addictive thing since cigarettes.
:sigh:
The theories and methods from threads found in these forums. I believe my three favorite we're Jando's insight on 2hd vs dual wield, their method, and someone's on rafting. Wikipedia allows me to look up upgrade paths, what is best for my financial situation, and preparation for an oncoming skill rank.
As someone who is constantly being called a "Pro in a Noob's body" the only way someone could be better than me at half my level is if they acquired some very expensive equipment (My friend Emoknightx3 has some of the best equipment I've seen and I can still defeat her) or it's alchemy. Hardly anyone my level is on par with me except for my alchemist friends.
I don't see how 10 rooms of boal infiltration would be easier than three floors of boal infiltration without play dead or rock throw which I have done before.
It is addicting. I've attempted to quit several times but when I get just bored enough and have moment of weakness I log back on. My whole deal with this is completely getting rid of anything Mabinogi related.

Well that's because Mabi just went back up.
EDIT: Look, Mabinogi's back up and I really don't feel like wasting my time anymore. It's your fault for looking in those guides, so buck up little camper. You have my opinion, and you can take that for what it's worth.

Because it seems you want a dumbed down game. If you want adventure, stop looking at the wiki for all the answers. Know how I did G1 through G12? (Except G8) I played the game without getting hung up on the right way of doing things. I used the wiki here and there when I was hopelessly stuck. I'm level 3K+, done all the generations, and I'm still finding new stuff to do every day. I didn't rank windmill or refine until I was over level 1000, I don't have the best weapons or equipments or the hottest clothing in the game, but so what?
Like any game, the fun factor is what you make it. If you're going to sit there and complain about how you know everything now and how you don't like where the new content is going, then quit now. I beg you. G13 has a load of new stuff to play around with, and seriously, if you're not looking forward to any of it then why are you playing? Everyone looks forward to new stuff in the game.
It comes down to this:
"The days of Generation Three are over and I just don't like the direction the game is going into."
QUIT.
"they made everything or are making everything easier"
Lies.
"or the advancements in combat that has my hard earned character left in the dust that not only make me want to quit Mabinogi, but drop MMOs forever."
Keep up to the best of your ability or get out. You aren't going to be the best at everything.
"Another thing I truly miss is my innocence. My head is filled with calculations, theories, tactics, and methods."
Stop using wiki then.
"I can no longer stand in awe at my character as he plays his lute to a default song."
When was that ever awe inspiring?
I'm sorry to be so harsh, but this thread is nothing but a cry for attention. Do something new in Mabinogi. If you don't like the game anymore why are you still playing?
..... You have said what I thought of this thread when I first saw it...
Thank you

Make friends outside of your guild to do runs when you please. Or better yet, take initiative and make your own runs within the guild. It's not solely the leader's job to coordinate guild activities.
You assume I'm not taking any initiative to make my own runs, you assume that I wait on my guild leader to make runs and you also assumed that I haven't taken the chance of actually trying to enjoy the game again unless you wouldn't have posted so or accused me of. Assuming makes an ass of you and me.

Those guides did nothing but help so once again you've missed an entire point. I don't take anything that minuscule to me. Do people pick up 5 gold off the ground after you kill a gray town rat? I think not.

Are you kidding? 5 gold.... -picks up-
Then again I won't complain. It's simple. Just quit if you're not having "fun" anymore; however you wish to define your fun.
I've been with this game since Beta... I've seen the growth of Mabi through the years... So do point out what exactly is eating up your way of enjoying the game?
Don't write complicated stuff i.e. "Theories, calculations" and whatnot. Get to the root of it.
Is Mabinogi EVER going to be fun for YOU in the future?
Make it simple.
If: Yes
Then: Play and find something that is not mind-numbing
If: No
Then: Quit
Simple as that.

If your looking for a battle system that gets more and more complicated as you look more into it, you should just play life. Right now i'm at the grinding stage, where i'm working 30+ hours and going to college.
Gotta look at it this way, The game was made in 2003. Not 2009, or now, but 2003. Building on it will only make it harder, Like upgrading an old computer. you can do it, but it's better to just get a new one then mess with old things. The battle system in my eyes has been the same since I joined. the only difference is that there are new skills to LOOK like the system is changing, when It's just filling in more space. i've still been playing for around 4 years and I'm STILL in love with the game. Maybe you need to find out what makes you happy about mabinogi? I really have no care for storyline, and I just have fun playing the game with good friends. I love to log on and grind some dungeons to get more gold so I can get more pets/clothings/armor. Helping new people that join my guild is also fun. they are all nice and some pick up the game well, others dont.
Really I can just bash you for your words, because this is something solely you need to decide, but people have done that. Start asking yourself questions. Why am I playing this game? Why is it fun? Do I do it for friends or for me? What more can I do? IS IT FUN TO DO THIS?

I'd like to thank everyone for their input and I'm sorry if I caused any friction. I've made my decision to quit in the next week or so. Classes are starting up soon so I guess this would be the ideal time to quit anyway.

Phunkie wrote on 2011-01-05 17:19
Offspring, don't quit simply because you think Chapter 4 is silly.
You made it through Chapter 2, correct?
More content (C4) is better than less content (C2). Plus, it's not like it goes unrewarded anyway. You do get stuff from completing G13 and probably from completing G14 and the upcoming ones as well. Personas are pretty useful.
You say that everything has become easier, well, you're only level 400 (as your little Mabi icons says), isn't that beneficial to your progress? Easy doesn't come without a prize, of course. If you're Melee, you will need to put down AP for all those Masteries and new skills. It's a little harder if you're a Mage though.
Mabinogi has not lost its touch. We're still doing crazy stories, talking to random NPCs, defeating the weirdest of bosses to advance in the storyline. Along the way, we acquire different skills, which we rank for better damage or shorter load times. The game is still about partying with people and making friends and even sitting down at Dunbarton for days, just doing nothing.
You have to make the game for yourself. I've been playing for 3 years--and yes, I do get bored sometimes--but most of the times, I do have fun. My guild, for example, is one of the reasons why I keep playing; they're hilarious people, good company to have when playing.
Make the game fun for yourself, especially since you believe Mabinogi is one of the best games you've ever played. The storyline will take back its course in C5. For now, just enjoy this small shift and take a chance to explore Shakespeare's stories or whatnot. I, for one, love the Romeo and Juliet story, so I'm excited for it.
If all fails, at least you tried. But try first.

WEAVING?!
Personally, I still feel accomplished when I uh,..accomplish something. My rage at the game comes from Nexon, and not the game itself (most of the time). I'm one of those people that wants to know enough to get better, but no so much that the game goes stale. Try not to think too hard about something that's supposed to be fun and not work.
