If I remember correctly, the Arbalest acts like a superior version of the crossbow. It provides greater critical and knocks back in two hits. Elven Archers are better off with Ring Bows/Wing Bows/Highlander Long Bows/Long Bows/Spirit Ring Bows/Spirit Wing Bows/Spirit Leather Long Bows.

I heard the Arbalest actually has splash range when attacking. If true this can mean a few things, it makes elf normal attack very scary being able to have splash range for each arrow, it can increase the splash range for Magnum Shot as well. A few things I'd love to tinker around with is if the implosive damage for Crash Shot would be splashed too, though I doubt so because that would be terribly broken. Also if Mirage Missile infection automatically hits all monsters in the splash. If anything, it seems to be the response to a Splash Dragon Blade and it's worth tinkering around with. Also having a 50%+ upgraded critical rate is something to try of course. Not saying that it's better but it's something worth looking into.

At the very least, it'll be very inexpensive alternative for Wing Bows if you're in dire need of critical and have r1 Crossbow Mastery.
