you won't. Unlimited AP just means you need to spent more time on the characters, but it won't mess up your character.

If you like the character and do the dailies regularly, you'll eventually max whatever skills you're working on and start adding to the other skills anyway. There aren't any skills that interfere with each other.

You don't really need to invest that much ap into scythe skills anyway (assuming you got Magic and Int Mastery, Magic crit for your staff).
Investing ap into scythe skills while during a staff to do dungeons is a viable option as well, so all in all, not even close to being screwed.

^ not even.
when i first had my evie, i was ranking up my staff skills really quickly. Then right when i was level 24, scythe came out (perfect timing).
at rank B stamina recovery, rank D firebolt and rank B magic arrow, i switched to scythe and never looked back.
now at 25k ap, i have literally EVERYTHING maxed. So much so i maxed defence mastery, rank 9 hp mastery, and ranking up revive >.>
it takes a VERY LITTLE bit of extra time, but you won't mess up your character at all.

Yeah, Vindi isn't like Mabi. In Mabi, ranking up skills adds to your stats, which can mess up your CP in comparison to the CP of the monsters you have to kill to rank other skills. In Vindi, your stats change, but since you don't have requirements to rank anything up (only a certain amount of AP and a certain level), you're good to go and can rank anything you want. :D
