So I have had several spirit weapons in the past, and I have never used them. I don't want to pay the costs to feed them items constantly (though when I discovered jewels I instantly started feeding mine regularly) but I hate fighting with them because of the complication in repairing them. I'm just wondering overall, for the people who do have spirit weapons, are they worth it if you put forth the effort? I just got an awesome black sword that I kind of want to make into a spirit but I also don't want to ruin something that I'd likely get more use out of if I just made it regular and upgraded it normally. So, thoughts from the people with spirit weapons.

If they get to max stats, they're worth it. It costs a lot to get them to a level that's worth using though, so that's a big thing that keeps people away from egos. If you can make an upgraded weapon in G14 with maxed out +dmg upgrade, then you can probably match an ego that took at least 5m to raise.

I have one to keep me company. Seriously. They really won't be worth it once G13 comes around, and usually the ons outweigh the pros. Sure, they can be badass, but repairs and actually feeding your ego so it can grow is annoying.

They can be. It really depends on what kind of ego weapon, and how much you feed it. Getting to level 40+ on multiple stats does take awhile to do though.

Yeah I've noticed. I've only just now, after 2 and a half years, started seeing people with Spirits with the blue glow. Yeah I think I'll stick with just leaving this sword as a regular sword. The maintenance alone is way easier than the complication of profing addition weapons to fix a spirit. While we're on the subject, should I bother keeping the spirit I do have? I mean the only reason I've kept it this long without using it is because it's a Tanto and I spent 700k on it....stupid >.>

Thanks to g13 and g14, Spirit Weapons have lost their edge over the upgraded weapons. Most of the ego's now are heavily outclassed by the upgraded counterparts. For the races, I see it like this:
Giants: 2handed sword ego is just completely outclassed, as you can make a Claymore with 43% crit and 200+ max with the S type upgrades.
2handed blunt: Titanic Crocodile Broad Axe has 181 max, 201 with Axe Mastery and don't get me started on the crit damage and damage upgrades...
1handed Blunt: This is only type that still has it's edge. No weapon can reach 201 max, then add blunt mastery, making it 231 max. 1handed ego's get a boost, because you can wield a second type, that's nearly as strong, but with crit damage upgrades, making smash crits and windmill crits even more epic.
Elfs & Humans: I used to believe Bow ego's weren't outclassed at first, until a certain pro Elf on mabination showed a Highlander Long Bow with Glorious Sniping upgraded for highest max with S type upgrades. More max than a LLB at level 50 stats and more crit than a Wing Bow ego at level 40 stats. Don't forget it has 2200 range as well.
Humans: 2handed sword ego's are again, outclassed as I said with the giants.
1handed ego's: Same with giants, these are your safest bet if you must have an ego.
Wand ego: Generally, they give much stronger Chaincasting capabilities, but that's what there main use is for. I'm not too knowledgeable about them, so I'll let Zyrus, Justin, or gen explain it better.
So yeah, Spirit Weapons have been outclassed thanks to the overgrades and everything. I still have no idea how rare the crystals are for making them, and there is still talk about beefing them up.

I'm pretty sure bow ego users will adamantly defend their egos with reasons of extended range and compared stats to G14's upgrades.
As for me, egos became nothing more than free daily blessings as of G13.

I've never really been an ego person, mine is mostly used for that added range and aim speed whenever I need it... I personally think it'll be great to match ego damage with an upgraded weapon, but at the same time feel it's a slap in the face to those who aren't as indifferent as me and did put forth tremendous amount of effort to get their ego weapons to high levels.
In the case of the ego bow, though, since there's the added benefit of range I don't think they will ever be inferior to their upgraded counterparts, even if they get similar stats come g14. Ring bow will still have the highest potential Crash Shot/Elven Magic Missile damage, while Wing Bow will have incredibly aim speed and very well balanced stats... though if anything, the LLB ego would only used for convenience, if at all.

I got my ego because I had it since I started mabi, but I never did anything with it except let it sit in my inv.
I know it'll be outclassed(it already is because I barely feed it), but it's a (semi)permanent weapon you can pull out at any time if you get in a real jam. Fully upgraded weapons will never have more durability than a maxed out ego, unless you fail so many times it's broken to hell and back.

The only reason my ego will live after G13/14 is that I hope someday they'll be rebalanced. I just can't see them leaving them as they are after buffing normal weapons so much. After the G14 +6 upgrades... it won't take many normal weapon buffs (or a really nice artisan upgrade) to make me consider trashing it. It is just getting to the point where it isn't even worth the space anymore.
I could finally just hock those gladius / long swords / LLBs too, instead of feeding it to my angry flashlight.

Only if you know you can stick to one.
Ask yourself, are you the type of person who can actually stick to one thing and commit to it?
Because I know so many people who get their spirit weapons to around level 10~15 ish and then dump it for a new one, and repeat the process like 8 times.
Thats millions and millions of gold wasted for a weapon that doesn't even do as much damage as a normally enchanted+upgraded weapon.
If you can reach level 20 on it, then yes. Its worth it.

With NX repair protection pots, nowadays regular weapons can be "semi"permanent weapons too.

I'm almost 100% sure ego weapon types get the bonus to so putting it in your calculations makes it pointless, I'm just correcting is all >.>
And as far as I know the crystals are buyable from the shop for 30k? i think ( correct me if im wrong)

A level 20 ego weapon doesn't exactly do very much... You will need at least level 40 strength if not level 40 strength and other stats as well for it to be good. I suppose at level 30+ stats, it will beat some upgraded weapons.

I'm just saying, at level 20 it finally starts to look half usably decent.
Before that you were pretty much handicapping yourself by equipping your spirit weapon.
