Hi,
Could someone explain what the COD feature is when you go to your mailbox and compose a message? It may be an obvious answer, but I truly have no idea what it is, so thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

COD = Cash On Delivery.
When you mail an item to someone, there is a fee attached. You can either pay the fee when you send the item, or select COD, and the person receiving the item will be the one paying the fee.

There are actually two different fees.
1) The fee attached to sending the mail itself (based on the value of the item/money you are sending). This will always be at least 100 (or 200 if using the instant mailing option), even if sending nothing at all. This fee is essentially eaten by the game (just like dyeing).
2) When using the COD option, instead of sending the input amount of money, that same amount is charged to the receiver for the attached item. In order for the receiver to retrieve the item, they must pay the sender this amount. This fee is transferred (in its entirety) to the original sender. (Note: The sender still already paid whatever charges necessary to send the item in the first place. See #1)
P.S. [S]I don't think it's possible to send both money and an item at the same time (though I haven't tried). Likewise, [/S]I'm pretty sure you can only use the COD option when sending an attachment (though [S]again[/S], I've not tried).

Ah okay, so it is kind of like a more direct way of trading compared to the marketplace. And just for your info you can send an item and money at the same time at least with the regular mail (I tried it and it worked). Thanks for your answer.

You can what? If you're referring to sending items and money, (after reading the post above yours) I was going to scratch that part out after first testing it when I get off work. I seriously doubt you can charge someone for sending nothing.

So what happens if you send a COD and the person never accepts it? Does it just disappear?

Actually I think COD mail has a shorter life-span than normal mail, in the neighborhood of around 24 hours. Though I'm not exactly sure because I don't usually pay attention to the time. All I noticed was that the line for my sent COD mail looked a bit different from the sent normal mail >_> I should check this sometime to be sure.
