Hello, my user is Armaments. You may know me in the past for my rants and PvP concerns (Maybe only one), but I will help you with a duel guide!
What you need to know: If you decline / request a duel and they decline, you have to wait 3 minutes. A way to kill this is by changing to another channel and changing back. That always does the trick!
Not everyone is friendly in duels, and I know from my mistakes in the past (ex. challenging someone 5 times and losing them).
Skills you should not use unless you ask them and they say it's okay: Mirage Missile, final Hit, Final Shot, frozen blast. If i'm missing any, please tell me and I will correct it.
1. Setting your options and settings.
A) Allow Pets (Do not, imo)
B) Something to do with a barrier (if they have charge, you lose)
C) The ferrricken damage ratio. On 0%, they can only do 1's and 2's at max. On 1%, they can do a little more (smash can do 8, as I have witnessed (pro pro) ) and on 100%, it's the real deal. Please be aware that on 10%, a magmum can do over 380.. I learned that the heard way (cough cough)
Once you're done, there will be a countdown: 5 4 3 2 1 and start. Any buffs and skills used before the word 'start' comes will be nullified. Woop di doo.
A strategy someone did yesterday (5 times) was go and run back, (elf) and use charge, then take bow and just spam arrows (high ranked r.a) and/or magmum. If the elf uses mana shield, either trans or something. Be aware that if they trans, you will be most likely to die.
If you're an alchemist with frozen blast.. if you want to, use it and spam that fire skill. After, water cannon / or attack and rinse and repeat. Easy.
Well, L> More suggestions.

Add in some latency issues, how people with low latency will have a very great advantage.
Also learn patterns. Elves with good latency can Smash -> Charge, and people are often thrown off by this. Learn how to get out, and start your own combos. Lengthy combos are the key to winning, and there are certain locks which absolutely amaze me in their ability. (Such as the Giant's Defense/Counter/Smash Lock.)
Generally range spam should be avoided, but in general, this isn't an issue unless the enemy is using an LLB, otherwise a well timed bolt or long distance charge will be able to take back control.
Evade is your friend, just know when/how to evade to sneak in more hits, and leaving the enemy stunned is an absolute joy.
Telling an opponent 'basic rules' generally disallows most controversial skills, while you can have an -all out- the same way.

Well, when talking about this. I agree, but;
Remember. In Mabinogi, there are bad and good people, just like in real life and other games. You never know, even though you put those rules up, that they will not use it. I've been through the 'no mirage' and getting miraged right after.

Yes, that is true. However, if the person you're dueling cheats, then that gives you the right to cheat right after ^^

And you can always deny potting by using Mana Shield then potting MP like MAD.

Tis be true, but spamming in a duel is wasting pots, no?
