  You get more chances of not getting canceled early on with a already strong or special character, compared to the normal character building up his skills (like Kenichi).

  Soul Society wasn't bad
  a rebellion against heaven isn't a bad plot
  but it's still WTF when everything's a conspiracy with three individuals who can kick the crap out of other captains.

  those guys are almost an exception, since they got the ability to not use a circle when using alchemy because of the whole human transmutation thing...

  Alphonse cannot use transmutations without circles until later in the series. He does fine though.
  And Edward's advantage was the ability to use alchemy without circles, but overall his talent itself showed in the transmutations themselves.
  
  Kenichi is a poor little boy whose hobbies are gardening and just being a very nice guy. He always wants to become better, so he takes martial arts. But the delinquents in his martial arts class pick on him, and eventually this leads to a scheduled fight to the death.
  
  To avoid getting his ass kicked he looks for someone to train him. The Ryozanpaku, a group of master martial artists sharing the same mansion, takes him in.
  
  Training is bs. He nearly dies every day. He always tries to run away from his trainings, but the masters have already accepted him as a pupil and will not let him get away.

  He manages to win his appointed fight, and decides to quit from the world of martial arts. But now that he managed to beat a delinquent, more are coming all around to challenge him. And he is forced to keep training, further into danger.
  
  The plot overall is hilarious, great, and action packed. Eventually things move from delinquents to world fighter tournaments to fighting a mafia group comprised of martial artists.
  
  DON'T WATCH THE ANIME if you are interested. Its crap.
  Manga is the way to go.

  Kenichi is epic pwn. Also at the beginning the girl is kinda ugly, but further down the series she kinda turns hawt 8D. And god has Kenichi suffered pain worst than 1000 Deaths.

  They did one of those "end the anime early with a crappy plot device" thing. Like FMA, Elven Lied, or Negima did.
