Hmm... reminds me of one of my fights. Person sucker punches me and pushes me, and then just stands there.
[A] Hit him in the face
or
[B] Get in defensive position
I chose A....
You don't really 'choose' in those situations. You get tunnel vision, you just act, attack, destroy.

Imo, if you've had enough experience, you can easily control your thoughts.
Though I prefer half self-control/half animal instinct for the best result.
Some prefer full control, though.

Control yourself enough not to kill the other person?

Or enough to remember to dodge and not just tank.

Avoid getting into fights is the best way to fight. You only get into more trouble if you get into fight at school. If you injured the person too much, that person might successfully win a lawsuit against you. If the person beats you too hard, you will have life long injuries. Either person may even go to jail.
However, if you are forced into a fight, and you don't really have much other choice. Always hit FIRST and hit HARD. Do NOT hold back. There won't be any fight if you knock your opponent down the first hit.

I'd say let them throw a swing first before trying for a OHKO, that way you can say it was Self Defense,

I've had two fights in my life.
One in 5th grade. Some kid had been annoying me for the longest and one day, I had enough. He made one snide remark and I grabbed my hard-cover composition book and slammed it right in his face. He started crying. And of course, we both got in trouble. But never again did he bother the crap out of me.
Second fight was in 8th grade. Similar situation. He was my friend though, but one day, we had an argument and we stopped talking. Eventually, it turned into a bunch of name-calling, sometimes even while the teacher was giving the lecture. We would get in trouble often. I couldn't stand him.
I remember I was the one to start the fight. He was walking back into the room and I sorta tripped him on purpose. He fell into some desk and of course, he came back and started punching me. lmao I think I lost that fight though, since he managed to punch on the face before the teacher separated us.
It hurt. :T_T:

ive had a fight break out above my desk, someone broke the other persons nose and i got blood over my shirt and no one noticed it.
When i got home my mom noticed instantly and thought i got in a fight, which was almost true.
Other than that, the only fought i got in was, kinda sad. The other guy was pissed, i was amused at the stupidity of it and calm, he tried to punch me and i ducked away, he nearly cracked his hand open on the wall i was leaning against.
Most of the time, i can talk people out of fighting me though, and im in a fairly nice school so that doesnt happen much now anyway.

i hate fights..
I'd rather just kick them in the balls or solar plexus and get it over with. Most pain for debilitating buck, I really don't want to draw blood.
of course, I've never gotten into a fight, since it's impossible to make me angry to that point- so i have no helpful advice.
I think the most pain i've inflicted on a living creature is kicking a pitbull in the face with rollerblades on (which is very awkward) since it decided it wanted to maul me for no reason.
it's really hard to stop a man from fighting once they feel determined. tried and failed, logic doesn't work with anger-vision.

Our school's mostly filled with Asians who try hard in school, so nobody ever really picks fights on anyone. I don't think you could say this was a fight, but I got stabbed right near the eye with a violin bow. If the guy jabbed right a bit lower, I think I could've gone blind with one eye since I had to get stitches for it.. o_o Then agreed to never touch a Violin or any orchestra-related instrument or group ever again.

My first fight I've ever had was my Sophomore year of high school with some other Asian kid. Just to sum him up he was a Asian Giudo and he always gave people **** for no reason. The only time he ever bothered me was about this one girl we both liked but that was it. I took some photos for a class project and he was in a couple of them and kept demanding he get them. I told him to **** off and then he went around saying **** of course.
One day after class I was walking to Spanish and some kids started asking me if I wanted to fight him or not and essentially getting on my nerves. Eventually I wound up in front of my Spanish class cornered into well... a corner. I didn't even get in a few words before he hit me. He hit me once and knocked off my glasses which one of his "Boys" kindly stepped on and broke. From there I proceeded to beat the living **** out of him no problem. His first hit must've not hit me very hard because all I remember is knowing I got hit, throw my bag off at his friends, tackling him into a wall into a head lock and beating down on his head. For some reason I let go and backed up to the radiator behind me. Now I'm not wearing my glasses and couldn't see but he has the most obnoxious punch I've ever seen. I basically ducked from his swing and flipped him over my shoulder into the radiator. Some girl came by and claimed to be a student teacher and broke it up.
I was unscathed except for the glasses. The next day was Chinese New Year so I had on all my new clothes that my family had bought me. There was a good possibility that I'd get jumped simply for fighting back. Thankfully my childhood friends are brawlic ass Albanians and pretty much escorted me until all the drama went down.
The same day he fought me he tried fighting another kid who literally threw him into the air and into the wall. I wasn't there or anything but he pretty much got two whoopings from two so called "Nerds". I've been a fighter ever since. As for the worst fight I've ever seen was between this really really nerdy black kid and some Asian kid I beat up the next year. I could've sworn they were throwing in Street Fighter moves in there. The best fight I didn't actually see but from what i heard and saw when they were cleaning up two big guys got into a fight and one got punched in the face and the guys back of the head hit something and started bleeding everywhere. Fun stuff.
The most recent fight was a brawl between some random white kids we met at Best Buy to buy Black Ops. I don't understand how three Justin Beibers thought they were going to beat up two former foot ball players, a life guard, and me. It didn't last long for them. For the record they did look all like Justin Beiber which only made it more fun.

I always avoided fights. In elementary no one bothered me, in highschool 99% of people left me alone but once in a while a new kid would come along and try to start something but it wouldn't last long. When you know how to fight you tend to never want to actually fight.

I used to fight this one guy in elementary school D: Kinda strange for me since I'm a girl, I guess...
But me and him would fight a LOT. But then, I learned to have some self-control. People still annoyed me, yes, but I would just ignore them instead of fight them. I think it's better to have more control over yourself to think rationally in a situation instead of letting your emotions get the better of you. If someone tries to pick a fight, just ignore them unless they try to hit you. Then it's self defense.
and trust me, there are ways to think quickly without letting your instincts get in the way.
