Mmh. What I draw depends on what mood I'm feeling. That, or whichever song I'm listening to. A lot of my art is based on feeling/emotion and music. xD
With this picture Nact.... well he had just logged off and I got some sort of mental image of wanting to just be close to him. x3 I kind of missed him. <3
That's just how my heart felt and I let myself illustrate that.
Everything I draw has purpose. x3
Although sometimes, I do get those really random pictures in my head and I want to jot them down as quickly as possible so I don't forget. xD
I sometimes use references from other peoples' art, but most of it is original. . . crazy-minded stalker-based art. =P

Maybe you should convert this into a thread where you can post your art.
I'd enjoy seeing what you can do.

That actually sounds like a good idea. :3 I might just end up doing that on my next days off. <3

Stop criticizing him >.< its a great picture.
Criticism is to be expected, even encouraged, and is probably one of the best things you can do for a creative individual. At the same time, you shouldn't hammer anyone over the head with derisiveness.

Philosophical war? Come and get some.
But either way this brand new guy to the forums post his first piece of art and he gets three criticisms right off the bat? Doesn't sound very hospitable to me.

XD I'm not speaking philosophically, I'm speaking literally. The number one tenet of being an artist or other creative mind is you MUST learn how to accept criticism of all types -- this is constantly drilled into the heads of every student in the graphic design program I am enrolled in at my college. I am not doing a fellow artist a favor if I merely say "Hey, that's great!" when there are things that could use work.
It's not about being hospitable. It's about being honest -- not because I hate the piece, but because I want to see the artist improve even more. I'd expect no less from anyone else.

I understand that but there's a difference however between criticism and telling someone how they could do better.
The purpose is to improve her not depress her.

There's something called "constructive criticism" that involves both critique and telling them how they could do better. I honestly didn't have any tips; I merely named what I saw as a noticeable flaw and suggested the artist think further on it.

Awwh you guys, it's alright. Don't worry about this. I posted this piece of art to express how I felt about Natch. :] He said he loved it and he even put it onto his phone so he could look at it whenever. That's all that really matters to me. <3
I will take what people say, negative or positive, as feedback and I will indeed improve. I know that I have a long way to go. This is my very first attempt at art in a year or so, let alone, I've never drawn in this style, so I'm completely satisfied with the result. I know there are a lot more experienced artists out there and what they say helps.
But, coming into a thread and saying that cat-stuff ish overrrrrated is non-sense. Kitties are cute. ;w; <3 -snicker-
I really do appreciate what you both say. :] You both are pretty amazing. <3 Thank you.
