It gives me no incentive to ever go back to Shadow Missions or Dungeons to level up again.
Guardian of Avon gives like 100k exp and with a party of 3, I can complete it in 10 min.
The New King's Request gives slightly less exp, but takes about the same time to complete with a party.
The Avon's Feather is pretty useful and convenient compared to waiting for Moon Gates to travel to Tara or Taillteann. Every 5 minutes you can go back. You could also Continent Warp, buy your supplies or repair, come back. Run some more missions.
Still waiting to get one of those new swords and those new cylinders, however.
But I just love this patch.

I'm concerned about the time and tedium involved in sheering paper sheep and making passes... gold pages don't seem to drop all that often if you want to to hardmode missions. In Tara the mission board is ridiculously close, and I can solo scc/hard in roughly 10 mins.
Sure all the fancy new drops are a big and exciting reason to farm the theatre missions, particularly for the prospect of selling the new shinies, but after the furor dies down, and everyone has their trinity staff/newwardropbe/ugly2-hander I think the theatre missions will turn into the money places (selling cobwebs) vs. shadow missions being the most efficient xp grind spots still.

They are the best freaken thing ever added for a grinding spot.
The missions are great:
- No bless or Holy flame lost when dying. What can you get angry about when you die?
- Hardly any travel time
- Spammable.
All you have to do is shear sheep for 10minutes and your good to go for a good hour or 2.
And when in SM's can you do this?

Sheer sheep for ten minutes? I empties two paper sheep and got 31 faded, 24 bronze, 11 silver, and 4 gold pages. That would almost, assuming no fails, give me a hard mission. I'd get, again with no fails at the loom, 2 adv missions. Sure I could spend a lot of time in almost 5 intermediate missions... but what are the rewards for that? and are basic missions really good exp on par with hard shadow mission?
Regardless of it all, I highly doubt the pages I sheered would last 2 hours worth of missions unless I did a bunch of basic missions that can't even drop upgrade stones. And that was just ~10 mins of sheering. Not counting time spent at the loom itself making the passes.

Serious? No blessing or flame drop when dying?!

Be ideal if all 3 party members did the gathering, then the one with the highest luck makes the passes.

Ya I emptied like 4 sheep and got enough pages to make 5 HM passes and 6 Adv passes and then after my fails since I have the default 19 luck it seems much easier just to do shadow missions. I'm just doing the theatre missions for the staff and fire mastery training.

Fun. However, is there serious competition for these paper sheep? Or are they unlimited paper?
-
Phunkie wrote on 2011-01-20 11:24
It's not that much of a hassle to shear the sheep.
And you get mission passes as treasure chest rewards at the end.
Additionally, the rooms are small. You gotta run all over in Shadow Missions. In Theater Missions, it's all contained in a rather small room, which makes it fun and easy to clear.
Oh, also... I'm not so fond of Assault Slash. At least not yet. Maybe because mine is only Rank F--which is useful, I admit--but I dunno. Maybe when I rank it higher.

Not at all.
It's like shearing wool.
Just trap the sheep with your Wolf pet and you're set.

Getting passes as treasure chest rewards helps a lot. Sheering sheep is a hassle to me compared to walking a short distance to tara mission board. Having to have three people in your party is also a hassle unless the (mob exp/3+reward exp)/time > (mob exp/1+reward exp)/time of scc hard. Grinding exp is all about the exp/minute, and time spent doing things that don't give exp and/or dividing exp up among party members reduce the efficiency of the grind.
That said, my only discussion here is about your first line. No incentive to go back. The fact that these missions are new certainyl adds to the fun factor, as well as neat things like nearly hitting a stat cap due to spotlight boosts. But once the novelty wears off, once the rewards from chests settle down and find their actual value as opposed to their current inflated "new shiny must get" value, all that will really be left for some people is finding the best way to spend the time they devote to the omnipresent search for more exp/ap. When that happens, it looks to me like shadow missions haven't lost their purpose, and the sheer efficiency of missions like scc and their method would be really hard to beat.
I am actually rather relieved if theatre missions don't beat shadow missions for exp efficiency. It is nice that new content can be added that is fun, serves a purpose to partake of, and gives decent rewards for your time spent, all without completely making old content obsolete.
As for leap attack... I like it. I definitely want some more range on it though. Currently it works best for me if some wall or other barrier is around to keep enemies close by after a smash or WM if I want to follow up with a leap attack. I also find it to be a great movement skill to position myself for further attacks. Smashing foe A towards foe B, then leap attack foe A, killing or nearly killing it, then wm foe B (and possibly foe A) certainly helps speed things up.

That's all cool to me. I love having options for new places to go to when I'm bored with shadow missions.

Especially when that supply is filled with 1-3cm gems.

Man, all of these patches are slowly destroying my ability to make a steady income.
Holy Water price is going to go down if people start to grind this alone, and with G14 bringing in mana herb farms galore, making and selling MP100's probably won't be very profitable anymore.
