Recently myself and a few other enchanters I know have noticed an increase in fail rates while enchanting.
Is this really true? Approximately how much in difference have you noticed?

I would say my fail rate has gone up a good 10-15% since the patch before this most recent one. Ive done about 1,600 enchants in that time. 3 other enchanters who are ranking actively atm said same thing and were like "So im not the only one". All said they failing alot more.
Edit: Rank A enchants used to nearly never fail. So maybe it was too high then?

I understand why you're upset. Recently, I was also really upset that I lost 15 million to enchanting my ancient/darkness armor. Although the damage increase seems to be worth it, sometimes I wonder if it would have been better if I did not risk it and just used heavy armor instead.
15 million is not a small sum. I do feel the pinch sometimes, even though I don't need the money urgently. I could buy nearly 4 avenger valencias with that money. Or invest 10 million in a house if I had continued to buy service. Or use that money to learn another skill (although I don't think I have anything to learn right now at this point that involves wasting a lot of money). So I see enchant as a risky investment. I still do think what I could have possibly done with 15 million if I hadn't blown it all on ancient darkness.
The above is probably why I haven't been on the game much these few days. Now I do my best not to think too much about it. The only consolation that I get is that, it's just a game and I should be playing it for fun. Also, after enchanting ancient/darkness and final attempt at defensive/oak, I feel that I've finally completed my end-game set of equipment. It's a major accomplishment to me, which means a lot more than what the loss means to me. Also, I can get all those money back eventually anyway, just a matter of time and probably effort (unlikely from luck, because I usually don't sell things that I get from luck).
Enchant-wise, there is no better substitute than Spike if you are insistent on broadsword set. You'll always get full durability if you succeed on Stamp and Spike. Raven is ok as a substitute set, just not good as a serious set. I consider Raven enchanting to be risky at R9, meaning possible loss of durability, and the max/min damage that comes out will be random. Goddess + caliburn combination is about as powerful but I hate the x10 repair fees.
Another enchant + weapon set by far that can rival Spike broads (possibly also incubus/spike after I get the final 20 str unlocked) is The Rich (it's prefix Lich over here) and some other damage-adding suffix (I use Barbarian just because it's Rank A and at 77% it's fairly easy to enchant), provided you have the dex and the ranks in Final Hit. Best part is that shadow missions drop these on dustin swords. However, that enchant is for only 2-handers so the playstyle is going to be different from dual-broads. I also feel happier when I'm using dustin because it's more easily replaceable compared to spike. I should be getting a second set after recuperating from my losses at enchanting.
My recommendation is to find a way to get your spike set and then work on another set of end-game weapons. Keep your options open, end-game equipment doesn't have to mean everything has to be spike broadswords. Also...avoid incubus/spike for now, because any failures from R9 incumbus might mean durability loss. (If you really want incubus/spike, you should be looking at getting more spikes before risking it.)
Spike is going to be an expensive enchant unless you are really lucky. I spend between 1-2 million for each successful Spike. Spike sells for 2-2.5 million over here on housing board. I consider my luck to be average.

Naw, your giant es just failed you and rem.:thumb:
Also, spiking is so fun... It's fun to blow things up, even if it bankrupts you.
There are so few fun things to do in mabi (for me atleast), what else is there to do but waste money, trying to obtain crazy things.

Don't blame Mabi, blame Murphy's Law.
Whatever you're aiming for won't happen. I tend to burn things whenever I'm bored, and I get really high success rates on useless things like White Spider or Rusty. But then when I try to burn good things like Thief or Fearless, I fail a ton before I get one.
Likewise with refining, I needed Gold fails to finish up Rank 5 and I kept getting success after success. The next rank, I needed only successes and all I got was fails.
Mabi is sadist. It knows what you want and gives you the opposite.

That burns. It's also why I'm so very slow with obtaining good equipment especially with enchanting to be done. I don't buy my gear anymore.
I refuse on principle to buy burns/enchants anymore. I'm also starting to refuse to buy smithed and tailored goods. I'm waiting until I myself can make my own items and gather my own burns/enchants.
The only things i buy anymore are things I can not obtain myself. Such as rare as all hell drops/fished items/event items (Red/Black LLB, bat boots) or high ranked weaving items (Tough thread, tough string). Only reason for weaving items is I dont have a mule to help me with it and neither can my "bro".
Everything else I will make myself and in the end save millions of in game cash, it just takes a crap ton longer. But holy crap does it feel good when you get it yourself in it's entirety. Like REALLY good.

some koreans tested the theory of percentage in enchanting...over 1000's of trials and
no. there's nothing wrong with the percentage..you were just unlucky ;;
i lost a similar amount of money from spiking broads. the only suggestion i can give you is to enchant when you're ready to lose that much amount of money.
spike'd broads go for +1m (i think) in ruairi...there IS a reason it goes for that much -.-
