Exactly how are finishes for normal monsters calculated? By normal, I mean those that aren't giant-field bosses, where I know the finish is who got the most hits, except for the Yeti, who's finish comes from the most damage. Are they the same as giant-field bosses, where you need the most hits? Or are they like the Yeti, where you need too do the most damage?
Another question I have is would it be better to get the longer freezing time with the special upgrades or to get a wider range? Is the wider range significant?
Off-topic question: How exactly do people get that stuff above their rep bar? Like how Mike has "Hardly Impressive." I never figured out how to get stuff like that :T_T:

It's a custom title. You can buy them in the Shop here in the Forums. =P

Normal monsters depend on the damage.

Normal monsters seem to involve damage as a big factor, but not the only factor. I think it is a bit more complex than that.
First hit seems to get a large amount of "finish points." Many times I've hit something for less than half of it's life, only to have a team-make do the rest of the damage needed to kill it... and leave a finish for me.

It seems to be a compromise between hits and damage.
My friend spammed only rock throw on a normal mob while I was loading up skills. I did 100% of the damage and still didn't get finish.
Though damage seems to be the bigger factor, along with first hit as Cryo said.

Seems my hunch was right. Well, I'll make sure to try to get the first hit on the Reaper now, and use Starrk to help me get the finish. Does anyone have any idea for the Frozen Blast question? I'm curious as to how much wider the range would be.....

Not sure if it's to early, but I'm going to bump this with 2 more questions.
Has crit always been the way it is now? By that, I mean I equip a 10% crit B@stard Sword and my crit rate doesn't change. My base crit atm is 33% with Musician's and my Claymore has 45% crit on it, yet when I equip it, I gain 35% only, making my crit 68%. Has it always been that way, or is it a glitch?
Still looking for an answer to the Frozen Blast question, and.....I can't remember my 2nd question, so I'll just leave it like this until I can remember.

Concerning the frozen blast question, that really depends on what you want to do with your frozen blast. Having a wider range mean that you can freeze more monsters in a wider range than with a normal cylinder, assuming that the mob is tightly packed and not floating around in different parts of the room. A longer freeze time allows you and your team mates to either accumulate more damage on the frozen monster before he thaws out or gives you a change to attack something else without having to worry about the frozen monster.
Not really sure how to answer the crit question, that does seem kinda odd.

I see. More frozen time for me then, though I guess I could always find a conversion stone and check the difference for when I actually START on Frozen Blast and get a Hurricane Cylinder. Are those Cylinders dyeable by the way? PLEASE SAY YES! I want an EQ Cyl that's yellow and black like my Clay :awesome:
I still can't remember my second question.....*waits for answer for crit question*

I dont think the crit was always like that. such as my glory sword. first time i equipped it my crit went up to 78%. now when i equip it its now 65%
Same goes with my gladius and other weapons. i seem to have a lower crit rate lately

Does this reek of Nexon fail then? It just doesn't make sense to me and is really annoying. I love crit and they're trying to take it away? I hope they like to eat Spears of Lights.
I give up on trying to remember my old question, so I'll replace that with this one. What enchants would be good for an Arbalest? Looking at the jap wiki, I want the 267 path with 16-24 damage and 52% crit. I already know I'm going to put Glorious as my Prefix, but what is good for a suffix? Is it still Revolver? Should I go with Caliburn, in spite of the 10k+ costs per point? Looking for damage and crit mostly.

Barehand is 10% Crit.
It has always been this way. Equip a tool (Potion kit, Tailor kit, Magic Powder) to see your actual base.
