It happens sometimes that the cores land exactly on the same spot, so if you dont actually pick'em up, you cant be sure how many there were. Next time picke everything and count it. Judging just on how many yellow cores you see might not be accurate or reliable.
Now, if you have done that, and your absolutly sure you just got 3 then try running the mission again, if it drops 4 then its most likely was caused by bug/lack of attention/lag.

I thought normal bosses have like 20% more HP than hard mode bosses. How does the damage increase in hard mode compare to the damage increase from Macha (assuming normal mode Macha)? I always played in hard mode from the beginning, so for the longest time I didn't even realize that I was getting hit harder lol.

From what I can tell, Normal Macha is = Hard Mode (just for damage)
And Hard Mode Macha = Hero mode (just for damage)
So if you're going to do Normal Macha, you're better off doing Hard mode. The only difference is that you won't be getting the oath bonus for macha.

I had an argument about the HP of Hard Mode before too, and ended up counting the amount of smashes it takes to kill a given boss.
I tried Gnoll Chieftain and Kobold Chief, with both Amaranth and Sword Smash 1 (forgot the name). In all cases it took the same amount of hits to kill the boss, so same HP with both modes. But it does feel like they have less HP in raids when on hard. So it's either just time illusion, or it can't be tested except with full raid...
If you try the Gnoll Chieftain, make sure he doesn't hurt himself with pillars, it could mess with results. Crits could mess with results too, but I had rank F when I first tried... might just be harder to test now though...
The tooltip can be correct in either cases too. It could mean that the boss has higher attack but normal hp (aka, same hp, no buff). Or it could mean it has normal HP as opposed to a buffed HP not mentioned on the Normal Mode. It's more sketchy IMO, but still possible.

If you want to do something like that, you could always calculate the damage via the VindictusDB damage calculator. Count up the damage you inflicted, and add it up to get the boss's approximate HP.

If what you say is true, then perhaps the difference in boss HP between normal and hard mode increases in later boats, because it certainly makes a difference on Blood Prince. A friend of mine had done that level repeatedly (on normal), and the 3rd boss would always survive his infused spinning attack with about a quarter of a bar left, even when we tried it together (where I didn't attack the boss). However, I convinced him to try hard, and every time after that, the 3rd boss went down from my friend's spinning before he ran out of stamina (again, without any attack from me).

that is more than possible, especially if they use a percantage boost relative to the boss's HP
