I have 33 Prof thanks to G13, but I want to decide where I want to go before I reach the max.
Pros/Cons please.

Pros: You might have a decent Full Swing with maxed ego hammer
Cons: Iron Mace is not only better, but you aren't likely to get level 40+ stats ego Battle Hammer to make the Battle Hammer worthwhile. Even with level 40+ stats, it is only slightly higher than upgraded enchanted weapons.

Ego Battle Hammer:
Pros:
- It's a big shiny object you use to smash enemies
Cons:
- Repair weapons used to be harder to come across
- Only real purpose is for Giant Full Swing. With out R1 GFS, the weapon loses out in terms of DPS and Defense, all for a slight boost for Smash damage and splash range.
Final damage at Level 50 for all stats:
86~220
Upgraded Enchanted Battle Hammer:
Pros:
- Readily available. Mess one up, just go to one of many NPCs that sell the weapon and start over again
- More versatile, since you can not only upgrade for high max damage, but also splash damage and range
Cons:
- Not as colorful as the Ego Battle Hammer, since you're limited to Red, Blue or no glow
Final Damage with a max rolled Necromancer Crocodile 258 Battle Hammer with Artisan and S-type Special Upgrades:
10-216
As you can see, the upgraded Battle Hammer is almost as strong as the Ego Battle Hammer, and once G14 comes out and the Special Upgrade level cap goes from 3 to 6, the upgraded one can get to 242 max damage, leaving behind even the Ego Broad Axe, and only 1 point of max damage behind the Ego DSKS.
If you want an Ego, then go for the Iron Mace. When you get all of it's stats to level 50, you're looking at a one handed weapon that has over 200 damage, meaning that it can keep up with the new enchants and special upgrades.
A Reliable Horn 200 Warhammer will only give you about 145 max damage, so your Iron Mace Ego will really stand out in terms of your DPS.

Wow, 242 max damage from a non-ego...
That kind of kills all Giant ego possibilities except for the Iron Mace there...

Unless Ego cap raises to Level 60.

Oh shizzles, so what upgrade path should I take..?
208 - because that's what Arsik was referring to..?
-
Arsik wrote on 2011-01-23 03:26
Whoops, meant the 258 path, not the 208. So that would be:
Taunes Battle Hammer Enhancement; 90 Prof, 22,200 Gold
Weight Reduction; 18 Prof 5,200 Gold
Tempering 3; 35 Prof, 6,000 Gold
Tempering 4; 50 Prof, 8,500 Gold
Artisan Upgrade; 100 Prof, 20,000 Gold
for 293 Prof and 61,900 Gold total. The reason I still call it the 258 instead of the 293 is because until that final upgrade, you'll be following the 258 path.

Uhh, for tempering, don't you need one and two?

It's - continue..?
Whenever I did other upgrades, it had to go 1, 2, 3, 4? Is this new with G13?
-
Meron wrote on 2011-01-23 21:03
Tempering 1 is UG # 0-1 meaning it can only be used for the 1st and 2nd upgrade
Tempering 4 is UG # 3-4 meaning it can only be used for the 4th and 5th upgrade
But you don't have to upgrade Tempering 1(UG # 0-1) first to get Tempering 2 (UG # 1-2) all you have to do is get a first upgrade.
You can do Taunes' Battle Hammer Enhancement (UG UG # 0-0) then Tempering 2 (UG # 1-2) just like you can do Tempering 1 -> Tempering 2

Wait so, how do I get the Artisan Upgrade?
-
Arsik wrote on 2011-01-25 23:40
Get 4 upgrades on your weapon, and then get another 100 proficiency along with 20,000, and take your weapon to any blacksmith.

Oh - awesome. :3 Thanks.
