Been wondering if Xbows (and later, Arbalests) are practical substitutions for Wing Bows.
After XBow Mastery, XBow/Arbalests can pretty much match Wing Bows in terms of crit.
Now with Elf's lower range speed (200% vs. Human 300%), shorter range (again, slower aim), and the fact that they can't abuse the mobility factor as well as Humans can, would it still be worthwhile to use crossbows on elves?
Or do I have to just bite the bullet and snag a Wing Bow? :T_T:

Crossbows do have a lower aim rate than bows.

An Arbalest can reach the Wing Bow's crit without enchants with r1 xbow mastery, a normal crossbow requires enchants to reach that much. You can run around with mirage loaded, but that might not be a factor. The Wing Bow does have 500 more range, and can get the campfire bonus. I've seen some Elfs with Xbows, so I don't really think it's a bad idea to use one as an Elf.

My wing bow gives 74 crit before enchants are calculated. I think it's good to have one for the monsters with higher protection. Also, magnuming and crashshotting with a xbow kills your mobility, which is a huge downside for xbows.
And the huge range difference makes a lot of aim speed difference for an elf.
Xbows were meant for AR imo.

Does XBow+Mount work the same as bow+mount?

It wouldn't matter. You can already gallop with Magnum Shot loaded while wielding a bow. The only reason (imo) to use a crossbow is to bridge the gap between Human and Elven mobility.
The spirit crossbow at least has the greatest ADACT of all ranged spirit weapons, but it'll cost you the ability to take advantage of the campfire bonus and you'll have lackluster range/aim speed.
