What is the recommended Firebolt rank for killing Ice Wyverns? My rank is currently A at the moment. Should I stay at Rank A Firebolt?

If you want real efficiency, rank it to 1.
Bolt spells are really easy to rank; it's just the AP that you'll need to sacrifice.
If you're only ranking firebolt for wyverns, I suggest r5 since you'll be (hopefully) using +4 CC wand and the r5 has the fastest casting time of 2 seconds
EDIT: HOLY FUDGE! 1000th POST!

Rank 1 for the best results, or Rank 5 for for a faster cast.
Also Congratulations Chihaya!

While we're on the topic of +CC4 fire wands
Whats the best way to prof it short of buying one?

Rank 2 is mana efficient, costing 27.5 MP per chaincast instead of 33 MP per chaincast.
Unless you're very close to ohko at Rank 2 and think the extra damage to help, I wouldn't rank it to Rank 1. (unless you really want the Int or are a completionist).

Like all other wands. Spam heal at a mana tunnel.

Dangit, I was hoping there was some mystical insta-prof way to do it that I didn't know.

You could try Provocation with a tendering pot. It should work for wands.
I did that with swords and man that is fast..

True, but at r1, you can be a shadow wiz! (Doesn't lose a charge for being knocked back)

R1 obviously.

Well if your using a CC wand, you can just drink an mp10 and get a full cc+4 firebolt charge without the required 33MP it normally consumes. You just have to make sure that you have a minimum of 6MP (8 for giants) in order to start charging a firebolt. I'm not 100% sure if this is a glitch in the game or if this is just a short-coming in the way the game is programmed, but when your charging any type of magic, it always looks at the base amount of magic a type of skill will need before allowing you to charge magic. So if you need 6MP to charge 1 firebolt without a wand, you'll need at least that amount in your mana pool to charge a cc+4 firebolt, even though it would normally consume 33MP.
Of course, this works in the opposite way as well. Lets say your casting thunder which normally takes about 40 MP for the first charge and your using a -40% mana consumption crystal thunder wand, even though the first charge of thunder will only consume 24 MP with the first charge, you still need to have 40 MP in your mana pool to initiate that first thunder charge.

Farm Karu for stacks of mp10s, prof your wand at a mana tunnel (or just use it to fight with in missions and stuff), go for rk1 firebolt. Combined with fire mastery, bolt mastery, bolt composer, and rk1 lightning bolt you'll be a powerhouse anyway. Ice wyverns won't know what hit'm, and you'll be effective elsewhere to boot.
(note that once you +cc your fire wand, it won't be useful for bolt composer... but you'll want more than one wand anyway)

MP saved is still MP saved. It can be very annoying to gather MP pots.
Leaving it at Rank 2 means you get more casts before you need to start using pots, and if you have MP Reduction, then an MP30 lets you CC twice instead of once.

Higher damage =faster DPS. If they both cost 10mp, then rank 1 is better.
Depends if you're a new mage trying to get by with a low max mp and no set reduction or an established mage with those sorts of things. Though if you're relying on cc firebolt as a mage... I'll go ahead and assume newbie and suggest rank 1 and mp10's. You can build into more efficient magery with Thunder/bolt composer with more AP. And if you really want to be micro-managing about it, you can always use a skill reset capsule on firebolt later when you have higher MP. Though I'd still leave it at 1 for the INT if nothing else.

Rank works for me. I have a CC+ wand as well. 4+ of course. Sometimes it doesn't kill them in one shot though.
Get a spare set of equips, enchant them with ice elemental(Needs to be sword, shield, robe, and accessories included)
Can be any noob clothing really, since it makes all damage by them 1s >:D
