ok, im an elf that mains mage, atm im using an arcane professor's kite shield, im wondering if i should stick with this one or if i should try to get a better shield.
ik targe shields are good for pings, but frankly they arent the easiest thing to get, raw base stats the demonic shield is good, but those have to be made and tend to be fairly rare because of that. g20 will bring that really nice Divine Shield, which id love to get my hands on once its out, but that's probably gonna take a long time to get, even once g20 is out.
Basically, is an arcane professor's kite shield (upgraded twice for melee ping, no gem upgrades yet) good enough for now or should i try to get a stronger shield to replace it?

It's good enough, you might want a rebis or guard cylinder instead for easy access to some defensive alchemy or the rebis crit upgrades for firebolt.

i do have a rebis, but its upgraded for all 3 defenses and enchanted with unusual, so i lose 15 int while using it, so mostly i use it for barrier spikes atm, since i like putting those in place when dealing with dungeons i dont run often or that have mobs that like to mutli aggro, since it can slow them down long enough for me to get a fireball charged or whatever else im using, although my biggest issue with barrier spikes is how quickly they run out of hp...havent gotten an earthquake cylinder yet to go with it for the extra hp
i prefer to use medium shields for survival most of the time, since they offer better stats from shield mastery(not much but some), as well as the reduction thing while using defense, although its unfortune that the only large shield is giant only, would be awesome to have that kind of defensive capabilities in some situations

This is actually why I'm really salty. Giants using a Vales will essentially receive 100% protection and reduce all damage to 1 with defense, allowing them to tank stuff like dragon fireballs or stampedes.
If you're a mage, shouldn't you be using Savage Fire Wand for CC Firebolt and Hermit/CG/Druid Staff for Adv Magic/LR? I feel that if you have a decent magic attack and the CC +4 Savage, Firebolt spamming will get you through a lot of dungeons with ease and there won't really be a need for barrier spikes.

Its okay for now. When you can get one, obtain a targe(later the divine shield as its far superior), a crit rebis(enchanted with synergy is nice for the additional crit if you have rank 5 alchemy mastery), and an arcane/professor double/triple spellbook(eweca being a must on it).
I switch between them all for differing reasons, whether I need more crit(rebis) or for some reason LD/Sand Burst/Wind blast, I'm expecting to never get hit(book), or I'm expecting to get hit but I can actually use defense worthwhile(targe). I have arcane/professor on both my targe and spellbook for the bonus mana, since using mana shield when over 400 MA is better than any defensive stats save for when you take no damage, which in that case using the rebis or spellbook is better.
HEM is garbage if you defense block with ms+defense, as it eats durability so much. Generally you can upkeep a spellbook for a fraction of the price, and have the enchants, so long as you can locate new books/quills.

i do have a firebolt CC+4 wand, but its a regular firewand, as i prefer to make my own equipment when possible, even if its less powerful, that said i do have a savage fire wand, and im working on proffing it, im missing a chargeless staff for the same reason
id love to get my hands on a targe, but im not sure ive ever seen one for sale, atleast not recently, and the only other way for me to realistically get one would be to join a party running peaca int
as for spell books i THINK i have one somewhere, but im not sure, ik i have a feather quill thing to repair one tho...
and unfortunately my rebis, which will likely be my first and last rebis, is already upgraded for auto-defenses, do wish they'd add more guard cylinders, at least make one you can craft or get as a drop somewhere....

What are the best dungeons to spam with this Dungeon Pass Event? Or rare drops that might otherwise be far too cumbersome to get without having easy access to the pass?

Hello!
I understand that you now receive a free horse as part of the starter quests. Is it possible to get the horse on an elf character? Or is that replaced by the eagle?

Unless something has changed recently, you get BOTH horse and eagle, regardless of your race.

It should be noted that the pets are only obtainable once per account.

Also worth noting Peaca int and Fiodh Adv because of the enchant drops. Barr adv also drops Nightmare.

Alby Basic drops a skill book that some people have had lots of trouble getting, if you need an easy dungeon.

Another confused newbie question, this time pertaining to the tutorial quests. I understand the game fine, so don't need them per se, but I'm very interested in the lore so I feel like I'm missing something.
I make an elf. Am dropped into the desert and after a scant few quests am instructed to use continent warp where I land next to Duncan and just ... seemingly do all the human quests. But I've found guides online to a full set of tutorial quests on Iria that I've never seen. Can't post a link for some reason, but I'm referring to learning Campfire from Hagel, or "The Giant Underground Maze in Connous Desert".
I've just returned to Filia after following what the game seemed to want me to do in the original continent. I've done the "Spying on Giants" quest but I don't seem to have anything else to do other than jump in to G1. Am I just ... done with elves? Where are all those quests I've missed?
