Is there a huge significant difference between an Ego Firewand CS lv 18 vs CS lv 20?

hey, I need a tip/redirection to another place on how to train Charge's attempt & successful blocking ranged attacks. I looked at it's wiki page, but i dont like do linering for spiked archers and there is another tip there that says canceling mana shield while charging will cause charge not to hit the target, but it doesn't work for me... Why are items from the Dark Knight Set so common/popular?
Gachas keep spitting them out, they come r1 already and with decent enchants on them sometimes.
Metal gear is also the meta right now and dark knight items are metal.
Strikes me as odd that people would want them with the nice equipment combination effects that are available or the passive defenses from other heavy armors. Guess I can't blame people for wanting to save money on reforges though.
By "meta" do you mean it's just fashionable? Or is there a practical reason for this?
Well, I did the barrier spikes/archer trick, but at the very first spawn of Battle for Taillteann I/II.
But the Mana Shield thing didn't work for you?
You activate Mana Shield, load charge and use it on an archer, then before you hit it, you turn off Mana Shield.
It should have you just sort of stand directly in front of the enemy, until Charge "expires".
That wasn't working?
I think exiting combat mode (press space) during charge should also achieve the same results.
Most equipment combinations at this point are either not worth it or require too much resources put into them to make anything out of them. About the only combination effect still viable for non archers is thames smash enhancement and that requires a ton of investment to beat bash anyways so it tends to just be cheaper to go with pre r1 equips.
By meta, I mean the higher tier enchants for metal gear give more max damage than those that can go on other types of gear for the most part. The enchants that can compete with these are too much of a hassle to come by and too rare and expensive to buy. Not only that but there a small extra free bonus of higher defensive stats for doing absolutely nothing but going for higher max damage. Though dark knight armor (the chest piece) tends to not be a part of the meta as people would rather go for languris chaser armor or a cheaper version (royal knight armor).
How much dex is needed to hit the 50% balance cap? I'm willing to do the math myself but I thought I'd ask first incase someone here already knows the answer to this.
It's like 1205 current or something with no other bonuses, but if you're concerned because of lances (and thus most likely a dex cut for heavy armor) a +balance enchant or two can make up for it because while 1205 = 50, 800 = 45 and the points past that are much slower.
