I don't know how trustworthy this information is, since I have a dog around 4 months old, but it's sorta similar.
He was chewing on a pork bone that my older sister gave him and he worked up the gall to swallow it. It got lodged in his throat and kept trying to get it out. He wasn't coughing, which worried everyone, since that meant he had trouble getting air in him. Eventually he started emitting a white foam from his mouth too. It was pretty viscous, but had the appearance of foam, being real bubbly. We had to take him to the emergency room to sedate him and pull it out since it was so late at night.
Maybe your cat has something irritating his throat too?

It doesn't seem that bad of a price but since my dad will be paying it's all up to him I'll throw in $15 if it gets too expensive.
@edit: My dog last year did some throwing up the same exact white foam he's all fine now I never took him to the vet not once not just for the foam but at all but anyways he's running and jumping (Small Dachshund).

$50 is outrageously expensive. Don't expect it to be that high, I just know some people who have to pay that much.

lol, well from what I understand, each vet chooses whatever he wants to charge for office visits and service fees. The vet who lives near me does a lot of things for free.

Because that would be too creepy.
For you, not for me.

my kitty vet trips usually cost 50~150 dollars for checkups =_=;
we have ours on insurance to cut the cost, which is important since our kitty has FIV.
i think your cat will be fine, just make sure you keep an eye on him and bring him to the vet if youre willing to.

I'm glad that your cat is seemingly ok.

Check the vomit carefully to see if there are any visible parasites.
I heard its not too uncommon for a cat to be sick with stomach worms. They're white and very small, often found in fish as well.

Some vets are indeed scammers.
One time, my Mom brought Rocky (my dog) to the vet and he wanted to perform all these vaccines and shots on him. The vet's secretary told my Mom that the dog didn't need most of those things and told her not to get it because he was trying to scam her.
My Mom never brought him there again.
Horrible people.
