So, I've decided to make a new account on Mari after realizing just about everyone on Alexina is a pvping d-bag.
My question now is, should I go magic or alchemy for a human? I've always preferred magic over alchemy, but recently their skills seem remarkably useful.

Alchemy has high damage, no matter the level. Magic takes a bit more to get into... Also you have to have something besides bolts, so you're gonna need an intermediate spell.

Alchemy can't beat Magic. It's just easy and cheap. With ~800 lvls you can surpass Melee or Magic. With 2k lvls, Magic>all.

So as far as I can tell, maxing water blast/flame burst, alchemy/water/fire masteries, and critical hit seems necessary.

Are summon golem and barrier spikes good? Cause they seems interesting.

Golem is very good. Will allow you to solo adv. and whatnot if you got Forest golems or better. But you need R1 Golem, and R2 or R1 Alchemy mastery. Can take awhile to do. Alchemist Destiny makes things a hella easier though.

Alchemy is a good set to start out with, imo. Magic might have an edge at mid-game however. Metagame, well, read about it.
They're both very large AP sinks, I might add. So... plan on that too.

Rank D Wind Blast actually, as a pre-requisite for Flamer. Go with Flamer or Water Cannon as your main attacking skill if you're planning to be an Alchemist, I suggest Flamer a bit more now since G13 monsters are particularly weak to Fire. Barrier Spikes is good at rank 5, you can leave it at there if you want.
