How do Gem Upgrades work?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. After you get the max amount of upgrades you can do gem upgrades iirc.

I tried that, but it said that my gem wasn't big enough o.o
However, according to Wiki, it was big enough.

Well, the gem upgrade in question was the Crossbow Jewelry Upgrade 1, +3 Min Damage. I used a 1.06 cm Garnet on Aranwen, and it didn't work. Wiki says it should be 1 cm+.

I don't have the means to go on Mabi right now, so I can't really check the NPC.

Do you have all three gems at the same time when you try to upgrade your weapon, or did you just attempt it with the one Garnet? Because a size 0 Aquamarine and Jasper are smaller than the 2+ and 4+ you need respectively.
