The dark red font color does not display if it is selected in the font color drop-down box when writing a message. Observe:
This text ought to display as dark red, but it does not.
Changing the color tag to color="darkred" fixes the problem immediately:
This text displays properly as dark red.

It's only been a week since the last one was posted, and Chise even knows about this. He says that it's a bug that only the creators of vBulletin can fix, so in the mean time, use the hex code (color=#8B0000) instead of using the decimal code (what you're trying to use).
