religion is simply a group with laws and anecdotes.
you do not need religion to pass on goodwill

In any case, Human Rights should be above religion.
As a friend of mine says, "tradition should be honored unless it becomes a wall to progress," which it's clearly being right now.
Religion is supposed to save, not kill.

Agreed completely.

Your friend is a really wise person. How can we make these people think like that, though?

I love how barbaric those people are with rules like that, and yet people still consider them worthy of human rights.

Sometimes I wish these people would die. Their 'religion' should be abolished...
But then I remember they are people and my own beliefs of freedom and fairness. BUT THEY ARE NOT FAIR AT ALL AND JUST KILLED A LITTLE GIRL.
Should we tolerate this? I think not.
ideas like this start wars.

The family who beat up the girl before the sentence should do the same thing to the man who cheated.
I don't care what your ideals are, that's just sick

More of whether they enforce them in a good or bad way, yes?

i just don't believe any of us really have the authority to decide what should be tolerated and what shouldn't be. whether or not we find it palatable doesn't really matter. and when people start telling others what's 'right' and 'wrong', historically, it can lead to things much larger.
not that i expect that person is going to start a war, just be careful with ideas such as that. c:

"Yeah my daughter was raped, murdered, and now I have to pay for her death"

Skimmed through the thread, read 95% of the article...where does it say she was raped? I read that she had an affair.
CTRL+F'd it, didn't even find the word rape in the article.

That's just the way things are in that culture, it's never really the guy's fault.
He has an honor to uphold, so they just drag the girl's name/family through the mud instead.

Yes, but nowhere in the article was the word "rape" even mentioned, so I don't know why everyone's saying she was raped. Even when you click on the link to go to the actual page, the word still isn't there.

Rest in peace, little girl.
It's okay to be a victim. There was nothing wrong with you. You were probably a great girl.
It's just religion. Some people get completely psychotic about it and even go forth to deny some groups certain rights, just because you may be different or not like them. If there is a God, I believe he created each and every one of us in a perfect mold. With flaws, with bad days and good days, with things we may like or hate about ourselves, and that's okay.
We are perfect in God's eyes, because he created us and God doesn't create imperfections. So there's no reason to be ashamed of yourself or others simply because of silly things such as race, sexual orientation, sexual status, weight, height, eye color, disabilities. God doesn't care about that. If he did, he wouldn't have created us that way.
Rest in peace, little girl.
