Yeah by her I mean my female gladius.
So I have a plain old grey gladius ego with 21 str and 17 social and other random stats and I'm thinking of killing it. This new weapon upgrade system can greatly surpass 44-74 damage and I don't want to keep raising an ego that I don't really use at all. If anything i'll just change it to a black sword or something. I just made a spirit bow on my elf and got it to 20 strength in about 3 days so I think I can easily get my ego back to where it was if I decide to make another.

What to do?

Not 21 Soc, so go ahead and kill it.
I see you are a Knicks fan.

Sound advice, and yes I am.

Glads really aren't that great, so go ahead if you want to.

Well, if you mean in terms of swords, probably a Two Handed Sword or a Claymore, or basically any other two handed sword.
There are many better egos you can choose from, specifically bows. Of course, if you're melee and you want a one handed sword ego, then Gladiuses are fairly good.

First off, a 1h sword is really the only ego a human should have, unless they plan on attending (and winning) GB every week. Every other ego is outclassed by their artisan/SR upgraded counterparts.
Gladius is probably the best (cost/repair) ego *FOR WM.* If you plan on WMing a lot (and you should be), a gladius is the way to go, unless you can afford to buy and repair a muramasa. A muramasa has a decent amount of max more than a gladius, and about 20-30 more crit, so you can dual-wield smash with it as well.
If you don't really plan on WMing or can afford to feed an ego to 40str+ and 30soc+, then don't even bother making one. Unless you want to just keep one for blessing/recovery (if so, then just ego a dagger, because it's the smallest).

Gladius is good in terms of easy to ego repair if you use it a lot. But at that level whihc probably can be attained in around one week, it's alright to destroy it if you won't be using it as much, or won't continue with it anymore.
(Varies with different people on the amount they feed their ego.)
Since you are stating that you aren't going to raise an ego that you won't be using at all, it should be fine enough to kill it, as you say. Also, since it isn't a specific color, it's another reason to do so as well, if you are aiming for a color coordinated one. If it's just space bothersome, then kill it right away..If it's not, keep it until you get a new egoable weapon, because destroying it early may be a little regretful to some people.
Muramasa is a good replacement for it, but not everyone can afford Nx repairs. Alternate choice of this could be a Bastard Sword, since the sword itself is easy to repair just like a Gladius, with nearly the same max as Muramasa does. Muramasa has higher crit, which is cruicial with WM ignoring the enemy's protection.
If you're more of the person who Smash a lot, get a ego Dustin Silver Knight Sword, and repair it with Nx repair, or repair it while the swords might be still cheaper from the fishing event on whatever server you're on. 1h egos I would say, usually are used by WMillers, while 2h egos are used by people who Smash, because the 600% damage of a 2h compared to 500% off dual wielding makes up for it. The larger WM range of a 2h also can make up for the lack of extra damage lost through non dual wielding, as well.

Do not ego a two-handed sword. Upgraded/enchanted two-handed weapons surpass Human two-handed spirit weapons while costing significantly less money in order to obtain prime stats.
Until DevCat releases a patch which improves spirit weapons, the best candidates are one-handed swords and bows. While G14's S/R+6 upgrade will allow upgraded/enchanted weapons to near almost all spirit weapons, there is no replacement for the spirit bow's improved range.

Thanks everyone. I've been playing the game long enough to know the pros and cons of the weapons. Nx repairs are out of the question and if I ego something its going to be a one handed sword hands down. Thats why I chose the Gladius in the first place.
I think i'm going to go with a black Gladius, though I hate to break my contract with my current weapon b/c I've had her for like 1.5 years.
Oh well life goes on. She hated me anyways. Most definitely going with male next time lol

The only ego that is really worth it at all is an ego dagger, as long as you never feed it and equip it only for blessings. All other egos are huge wastes of money.
If you want to try to get a good 1-hander ego, get a bastard sword ego. I'm not sure why kaeporo didn't mention this, as he knows about this sword based on his participation in other threads. But even then, upgraded/enchanted weapons are just better.

Seems like ego weapons need to be buffed. Especially buff the 2h ones, since they seem to be pointless.

The bastard sword, gladius and muramasa are all good one-handed swords. Realistically, the muramasa is the best of the three due to it beating the gladius in both critical and average/maximum damage while having similar max and significantly greater min and critical than the bastard sword.

It's on the
list of things to do. I advise against anyone destroying a high level spirit weapon simply because of G14's S/R weapon upgrades.

This. I like the extra damage from Smash or the Longer Windmill stun =)
