Not to sound like a prick or anything, but I've noticed a lot of people using 'Gender' when they actually mean 'Sex'.
Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but.. they aren't the same thing, lol.
Sex = male/female. (It is the biological sex you are born with)
Gender = masculine/feminine/androgynous/neutral. (It is the traits you hold)
Soyes. It just bugs me when people confuse the two.
Gender is not another term for sex. They are two different things.
kthx.

I was waiting for when you would finally post this hubbeh. But you're right, a lot of people do get the two confused.

3. informal the state of being male, female, or neuter
Collins English Dictionary - Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition
2009 © William Collins Sons & Co. Ltd. 1979, 1986 © HarperCollins
Publishers 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009
So it can be used as Sex, even though it's not completely right.

cynic, this isn't a feminist forum, and we aren't scientists, so loosen the reins on that a little.
but yes, it's good to be educated about the distinctions.

Wait, here?
Like, where I said "gender-neutral"? Because that's what it's called officially. :D
Male and female are both genders and sexes.
Like if someone asked me on a forum, "Phunkie, what's your gender?" I would say male.

A dictionary states lingual use, not technical use.
When in a more formal environment the ability to discern the two may be necessary, but for a rather informal online forum, the two can be very interchangeable.

There's no point in differentiating the two. The only people who get butthurt about it are the ones that are all "I'M A FEMALE ON THE INSIDE SO WHAT" up in your face about it.
I mean, good for you you're all gender-confused, but don't get all preachy about it.
