It's odd for someone born in the wrong body (i.e. a man born as a woman / woman born as a man) to be gay?
A friend brought up this conversation with me, and I'm interested in your opinions.
Not asking anything about the actual people or whether you're a supporter.. but would you find it odd if someone like that is gay? (My friend pointed out that he thought it would be odd, given they could just be straight instead of being true to them-self and being gay)
To me, that isn't the issue. The person is who they are, and if they pretended to be straight.. it just wouldn't work. Since that person wouldn't be being true to them-self by being them-self, you know?
But I'm curious as to what you guys think. :P
Personally, I don't see what is odd about it.

I don't know how you can be born in the wrong body unless you're delusional.

Lmao? It's completely possible. But as previously stated, I'd like to delude from that actual topic.
It's a fact that people can be born that way, so I'm gonna waste my time explaining it if you want to deny a fact.

I really don't think you could be born in another body. Maybe thats just a metaphor.

Wait do you a man being born in a woman's body to be gay?
It's confusing.
But if that's what you mean I don't understand why not.
I mean it's odd but it's not wrong.
People themselves know what they want and who they are (most of the times)
This topic made my head hurt.
And no you're not delusional and it's not a metaphor if you think your born in the wrong body.
Transsexuals think they're born in the wrong body and that's why the switch (Right?)
To me it's like the "you're either born gay or you're not gay" thing.
You can't really speak for the other if you don't know what they've been through
Correct me if I got the idea of the topic wrong because I think I did.

Sigh. Of course I can't ask the Nation to not bring this up, rofl.
You don't 'think' you are born in the wrong body, you are.
Biology made a mistake with these people. They are men in womans bodies and women in mens body just as much as you and I have certain hair color.
There is no 'if' about it. I don't care if you guys approve of these people are not, but it's a fact.
You can dislike them if you want, but you cannot deny these people exist.
It's not a mental disorder or a delusional.
It's a fact.
Either accept it or happily get out of my topic.
We're here to discuss something relating to them, but not whether or not you want to believe it.
I don't insult your sex, so don't insult their's. It's downright discrimination.

Are you talking to me? (Since you quoted me)
Because I didn't mean to insult anyone in any form or way.
): Sorry

I don't find it odd at all, nor do I really see why you would think that being born in the wrong body would make any difference (Not saying that you do, since you obviously stated that you don't find it strange at all :p). If a male who was actually born in a female body is gay, bisexual, or straight, then I'd view them as any other gay, bisexual, or straight male.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, I think it'd be a little weird, but not unnatural. If you're a man born in a woman's body or vice versa, I guess it'd be alright to be gay...I'm not sure how the other party would take it though. I guess it just depends on the other person. Maybe they like a manly woman? Who knows.

Nah, you got it right. Excuse me it I worded it oddly or anything, lol.
I just wondered because I do understand it being odd. A lot of people might say "Why not just be straight and act the part you were born as?"
For me, mm.. it's just never mattered. Being who you are is very important to me, whether it pertains to breaking out of your biological shell and being who you were meant to be, or just not being afraid to show a certain aspect of your personality (i.e. if you like Justin Bieber or something despite everyone hating him, LOL), etc etc.

If they feel more comfortable stating it that way, I don't care. It won't affect me in any way (unless they hit on me).
While it's rare that I hear about this, my teacher told me of a student of hers. He's biologically female (or was?), but he was also gay for men. In other words, he felt like he should have been born a man, and would still be attracted to other men.
Personally, I don't care how people view themselves, as long as it's true to what they feel. It's not like their homosexual, transsexual, transgendered-ness is going to rub off on people. People that can't tolerate it need to stop being such children and get over themselves.
EDIT: I'm no expert in psychology so I may get this wrong, however, I'd like to say this:
The brain has a self-image. Most of the time, that self-image will match our physical selves. However, there are cases where people are born and their self-image doesn't match exactly what they physical image is. For example, some people have been born with "phantom limbs". These limbs can be experienced and controlled by them, but do not exist in their actual, physical bodies. If this happens, it's possible that for some people, their self image is of the opposing sex.

I love you, Addy. <3
I'm tired of people to ignorant to accept a fact, rofl. It makes me feel sorry for them, honestly. To not understand such a simple thing.

Aw, thank you~
I can't say I feel sorry for certain people past a certain point. When I get to a certain level, I can only get angry about it. I tend to avoid arguments with such people if I know they're going to be that way.

I don't really see how it's odd at all. It's just that there's an extra "step," if you will.
Like...they're gay, but they also happen to be in the wrong body.
Trying to act the part of whatever sex they happen to be born as would be (I imagine) just as weird and unnatural to them as someone gay trying to act straight.
I hope I stated this all correctly. I really do try to understand but sometimes I get confused. >.<
