I would that both are practically even to each other, having their advantages and disadvantages as well.
Crash Shot: The probability of missing a shot, and then not being able to charge up another one before you get hit or so, and relying in SoG in order to hit the enemies when you're nearly past them. I would even load range instead and spam it, since it is way faster aim, and probably better than nothing. If you do end up KOing it with the shot itself and not the fragment, sometimes it doesn't hit all of the mobs if you're aiming at something like.. Behind the mobs that you'd want to hit. Pre-loading Crash Shot before the mobs is what I usually do, and aim at the thing you want to hit ahead of time, to get that extra percent of aim on.
Thunder: Doesn't miss, but wands are somewhat of a hassle for some people to repair. Not to mention the extra charges for more attack radius. Takes even more time to charge up more charges though, compared to Crash Shot's slow aim.
Both relies on pretty much Int or Dex to KO mobs, but either way, in my opinion, they're pretty much even when it comes to comparison.

You can get more than 6 big and 1 small right, it just won't matter..?
It will not matter for the gold or exploration exp, that is the max you can get. It'll give you the amount you'd get with 6 big and one small star nevertheless.
