Ok curious on these features.
1. What are rep used for?
2. How are points calculated
Also Jahrakal posted 2 really good guides of his and I wanted to rep him on both but since I hadn't "spread the rep around" since I don't just give out rep to people who request it but to people who make good posts and pints I was unable to give the rep for the second guide. I understand this is a way to control abuse but I think we could somehow seperate the rep given in topics (if this is important. if not then nvm).
Sidebar :Don't plus rep me unless my post is on topic and relevant with points that make you say "yeah thats good".

Rep is for your e-peen. You can't do anything with it.
Its a reward system, but you usually get it for being funny rather than helpful...
Anyways, you can't rep the same person twice in a row (or is it more?), so "spread the rep around" first.

I think the system is fine like that, it's just a kind of thanks meter but you don't always have to give it, you can also thank the person by a reply on the guide.
Reputation is....just reputation. Kind of like a showing-off thing.

Rep isn't used for anything, but making your green bar under your name bigger. It might give the receiver a little bit of gold, but its not very noticeable.
What I don't like about the rep system is that if you help newbies in Q&A, they probably don't know about the rep system and don't use it. Even if they do use it, since they've got low rep themselves, it won't end up counting (grey rep). So basically, only people who have been around for a long time can influence your rep, and its more of a popularity measure than a measure of your usefulness.

Guess i was taking it too seriously then. Since I only give +rep to comments that help my gameplay. I'll try to lighten up then.
but how are the points calculated? I like doing the little upgrades on site.
+rep to best answer? LOL.

I'm sure this site just does a +1 only.

I don't think its just +1.
Say you're repping someone else-- the amount of points they get is determined by your own amount of rep.
I got 26 points transferred from Guru.
Since then, I've been effectively repped 6 times (10 times total, but 4 didn't count) and I currently have 43 points.
So I've gotten 17 points spread out over 6 people~ maybe one rep can give you anywhere in a range of 1~4 points?

I once got derepped for posting the exact differences of pally and dark knight in mathematical form (max damage and min damage gain/loss)
Since then i don't really care much for rep.

Other than disabling negative rep, I haven't even looked at the settings. Was hoping for fal to be able to bring the settings from guru so everyone's rep would be working the same way but not sure if she even has access there anymore.

I remember checking my rep one day and it was like something, then the next day Fal repped me and it was like something+15 lol, but then others were like 1.....

Wrong section. This belongs in Mabination Discussion since it's about the forum and it's features, and not about Mabi.

Seems everyone gives +1 now or something.
I haven't gotten a rep worth more than 1 since I moved from Guru, so its probably got a different system (?)
