I don't think anyone really is bashing the skill for using it the way it is intended: support of your other skills to buy you distance/time to load your real attacks.
What people are pointing out is that if you try to kill things with nothing but wind blast, you are going to only be able to fight things weak enough to die in three wind blast hits... and with how little damage wind blast does, that doesn't give you a lot of room.
You're going to have to use other attacks that hit harder, or at least something else to stun them until your wind blast gets out of cooldown. If the former, then you are not really a "wind alchemist" so much anymore.
Though if you really want to push the idea, shock is wind/fire and life drain is all four elements. Good luck even getting shock if your primary attack is wind blast, but life drain should fit your fighting style pretty well. I imagine a fight would go something like this:
Load wind blast. Knock enemy away, annoying it.
Enemy approaches and proceeds to hit you a few times, lowering your HP (and hopefully not wounding you or killing you).
Load wind blast while beiing knocked away and gale the opponent really far from you.
Load life drain and recover hp, kill opponent.
I'd suggest investing in a really good shield and some good melee passive defense armor like valenca or dustin.

I also forgot to mention that frozen blast is wind/water. You could technically get away with that skill as well. You could freeze enemies then... do whatever you want to them. While I bet punching them would do damage faster than wind blast spam, as long as you can keep them frozen you could kill them however you like...
Crystallizing thunder requires wind crystals. Even though crystallized magic has no element, you could sort of argue that this would also fit in your build.

I don't see the point in doing this for the sake of being unique. If it's fun, then that's fine, but I would not recommend doing this just to be "original", it's not worth the work. Often when people try to be unique they just end up being the same as all the other people that are trying to be unique.

If you really enjoy it: then go for it. It is a game after all, and the more fun you have the better spent the time was. I just wanted to make the point that you should not do it just to be unique.

lol im almost done with my Breeze set, i need to just get breeze on a hurricane cylinder(not my main one) and two assc's 6/9 breeze items atm
and i wish breeze added Gale instead of wind dmg qq
Too much Gale can be a bad thing.
Also Put max damage prefixes on said items.
6 Max damage = approx 6 Alchemic damage.
Stacks properly too.
