when I take snapshots and look at them, they show up the same size as the game window, but when I upload them somewhere they get shrunk and the text is barely(if at all) readable.
How do I stop this?

It depends on the site you are using to upload the image. Popular sites (Photobucket, imageshack, tinypic) have an option you can change for resizing tough (disable, or different resizing options) .
